WASHINGTON, DC: The Republican candidate for a state Senate seat, Dusty Deevers, is a far-right Christian nationalist pastor from Oklahoma's 32nd District.

He claims to apply “the word of God to every issue” and wants to outlaw abortion, pornography, no-fault divorce, and calls for the public humiliation of adulterers.

Deevers made an appearance on 'The Sword and The Trowel' recently to discuss his campaign and outline his plans for bringing all facets of society and governance under the rule of Jesus Christ should he win.

Dusty Deevers recommends 'public shaming ' for those at fault in divorce

In a video uploaded on X (formerly Twitter), Deevers discussed some of the topics he is interested in, such as no-fault divorce and the abolition of pornography.

Deevers said in the video, "I want to see pornography abolished, I want to see no-fault divorce come back to at-fault in divorce and even public shaming for those who are at fault in divorce."

"I want to see abortion abolished. These are the kinds of morality and government issues that we need to get back to," he added.

According to Newsweek, Deevers' statements dovetail with other conservatives' comments regarding the elimination of no-fault divorce laws, which are currently in effect in all 50 states of the United States.

These rules permit a married person to file for divorce without providing a detailed justification or pointing to a particular action such as abuse or adultery.

Deevers stated on his campaign website, "It is outrageous that abortion pills still flow legally through our state. It is outrageous that pornography and no-fault divorce are so prevalent in our society."

"It is outrageous that Critical Race Theory and Queer Theory dominate in many of our public institutions. I promise to support legislation to put a stop to all of this," asserted the far-right Christian nationalist.

Subsequently, on the show, Deevers rejected the idea of separating church and state, stating that since Christ is "the ruler of all the kings of the Earth" and that civil government must always function on "the presupposition is Christ is Lord," per the Right Wing Watch website.

Deevers asserted, "And the standard is the God who created everything and who will not be thwarted in all of his plans. And if we recognize that Christ has been seated, after his resurrection, was seated the right hand of the Father."

"We can recognize that there is a difference between the civil government and the church, but under that, Christ is ruling and he is king over all. So, it’s a presuppositional approach to government and the church, and the presupposition is Christ is Lord," Deevers concluded his rant.

Internet debates over Dusty Deevers' call for 'public shaming' of those at fault in divorce

An online controversy launched on X following Deevers' contentious call for "public shaming for those who are at fault in divorce," where some defended the call while others reproved it.

One such X user defended the far-right Christian nationalist and Oklahoma pastor, writing, "I’m already a fan of Dusty, you don’t have to sell me on him."

"Excellent content, great candidate. Thank you for your service," thanked a second supporter.

Another supporter contended, "Ya, dont see an issue here. Nothing he is proposing is out of line or "extreme." Basic stuff here"

"What a hero. We need more. Thank you for spreading awareness," hailed a fourth supporter.

However, there was also an array of people on X who reproved the "public-shaming" call, with one stating on X, "Wow! we’re still in the year of 1737 !"

A second one echoed a similar sentiment and noted, "Man, this makes me wish I was a democrat so I could vote for him out of state and multiple times."

A third one explained, "He’s desperate for the Old Testament, including instituting 10 commandments for all w/punishments that they get to decide. He’s President Coin, the answer to President Snow in hunger games. They’re also rules for thee but not for me or my friends kind of people."

"There is based, super-based, and super-duper-based, and then there is this," mocked another one.
