Wendy Rogers, revenge porn, and the Hunter Biden video that could bring down Arizona state senator

PHOENIX, ARIZONA: A Republican senator, who sponsored a bill this year that sought to prevent children from watching internet pornography, may have landed in hot water after sharing Hunter Biden’s explicit images on Twitter. Senator Wendy Rogers took to Twitter on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, to re-tweet a graphic video that features explicit images of President Joe Biden’s 53-year-old son.

“It’s all here in black and white. Oh and apparently in NBC living color,” Rogers, a Republican representing the Flagstaff area, wrote while re-sharing the video. However, she has since deleted the post, with GOP Senate President Warren Petersen calling it a mistake. “[Rogers] didn’t realize those images were in that video until it was brought to her attention, and she immediately removed the video from her feed,” he said in a statement. Rogers may have deleted the video but a Valley lawyer believes that it won’t be sufficient to protect her from legal consequences.

'You don’t get to wipe out the robbery'

Tom Ryan, a Valley lawyer, said he thinks Rogers violated Arizona’s so-called revenge porn law by sharing Hunter’s explicit video, which was barred from TV airing. “It’s not a defense if she later took them down, which appears she has done," he said. The law makes intentionally disclosing a sexual picture of anyone without consent a criminal offense.

Ryan told Arizona’s Family, “Any more than it would be a defense. If you robbed a Circle K and later gave the money back, you don’t get to wipe out the robbery.” Other attorneys also told the station that it would be a tough case to prosecute given the high-profile character of the Biden family and the proliferation of violent images of Hunter Biden on social media.

Rogers is no stranger to controversy. In 2022, she received a reprimand from the state Senate as a result of a taped speech she gave at a white supremacist gathering. During the address, Rogers demanded the execution of those she saw as enemies. This year, she advocated for legislation that sought to prevent anybody under the age of 18 from accessing online porn. Rogers voiced her worries during a committee hearing and referred to the ease with which children can access porn as "a scourge that is affecting impressionable minds."

Hunter Biden’s new controversial images

Rogers’ post came just a few days after a flurry of images surfaced online showing Hunter smoking crack behind the wheel of a car in 2018. The images published by Marco Polo, a charity organization run by former Donald Trump staffer Garrett Ziegler, show Biden flashing what appears to be a crack pipe and smoking it while driving through a residential area in Arlington, Virginia, on June 12, 2018. The images were discovered on Biden's notorious laptop, which also contained messages to several women who were anxiously awaiting his arrival in Sin City for a hot tub party, the Daily Mail reported. The Vegas trip appears to have taken place during the weeks-long bender Hunter admitted to attending during a January 2019 conversation with a hooker.
