'Well said': Internet praises Rep Robert Garcia's call for Dean Phillips to 'keep the VP’s name out of his mouth'
WASHINGTON, DC: California Representative Robert Garcia has called on Minnesota Representative Dean Phillips to apologize for his comments which suggested Vice President Kamala Harris would be ill-prepared to sit in the president's chair if such a situation arrives that the incumbent, Joe Biden, was unable to continue.
Taking to the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, Garcia wrote, "Apparently Dean Phillips is floundering so hard that he’s now resorting to attacking Vice-President Harris. He better keep the VP’s name out of his mouth and apologize."
"No one will support him so he’s going to torch his entire reputation on the way out. Sad to see," the congressman added, along with an excerpt of the interview where Phillips had shared his views on the subject.

What did Dean Phillips say about Kamala Harris?
During an interview with The Atlantic, Phillips was asked by journalist Mark Leibovich whether he felt Vice President Harris was prepared to step in for Biden, should the need arise. "I think that Americans have made the decision that she's not," he replied.
Phillips went on to say that he has enjoyed his interactions with Harris, which he described as "thoughtful."
However, he continued, "I hear from others who know her a lot better than I do that many think she's not well positioned. She is not well prepared, doesn't have the right disposition and the right competencies to execute that office."
"It's pretty clear that she's not somebody people have faith in," added Phillips, reportedly noting that Harris' approval ratings are still trailing behind Biden's.
In early November, Phillips threw his hat in the ring for a longshot presidential bid against Biden, after calling on the latter to "pass the torch" for months, reported The Messenger.

"Dean Phillips has basically pronounced the reason why he is running his quixotic campaign: he can't stomach the possibility of a Black/Asian woman, the number 2 on the ticket, ascending to the highest office," commented another.

"He is such a loser. The good thing is he’ll never have to worry about people questioning his competence as a VP or President, because he will never be either," said a user referring to Phillips.
