'Welcome To Plathville' Season 4: Olivia worries that Ethan doesn't 'prioritize' her over his work

Ethan, however, noted that if coming to Cairo was a setback, then their 'marriage isn't much of a marriage'.

When it comes to successful marriages, communication is key. For the Plath family, it looks like Kim and Barry's lack of communication led to their upcoming divorce. And it seems as though the same problem applies to Ethan and Olivia, who are facing issues yet again.

Over the past seasons, Olivia and Ethan's marriage has been anything but happy. While Kim was the reason behind Olivia's distress early on, it seemed as though moving out was their solution. However, by then, the couple already had several issues. Season 3 saw Ethan and Olivia take time apart from each other and briefly split. During this time, both of them focused on themselves, seeing that they felt that they hadn't discovered themselves as individuals before tying the knot.

While Season 4 has seen them enter a much better place, emotionally and mentally, it looks like all their problems aren't behind them just yet. While the couple are now living in Tampa, it looks like Ethan mises Cairo, since he is unemployed and unable to work on his cars. While he has no intention of bringing his cars to Tampa, seeing that they are renting a house, his solution is to drive to Cairo and work on them instead.

However, for Olivia, this is a cause for concern, as she doesn't feel comfortable with him being back in Cairo. In order to reach a solution, she decided to make the trip with him. Although Ethan was not entirely thrilled as he thought it was going to be a solo trip, he was glad to see Olivia join in and help him with his work once they arrived. But there was one issue that hung heavy in the air -- Ethan hadn't told Olivia that during their split, he purchased a new car. While that alone doesn't seem particularly alarming, to Olivia, Ethan had a tendency to avoid issues by immersing himself in his work and thus ignoring their problems.

When Ethan finally came clean to her about the new car, Olivia was thoroughly upset over the news, even though he explained that he purchased it with money he got by selling lawnmowers and other things. To Olivia, the cars were a sign of a time when he didn't want to prioritise her and choose to do so by working on cars instead. Ethan, in his confessionals, admitted that sometimes he didn't understand where his wife was coming from. If coming to Cairo to work on his cars was a setback to their marriage, Ethan noted that then their 'marriage isn't much of a marriage'.

'Welcome To Plathville' Season 4 airs on Tuesdays at 10 pm ET/PT on TLC.
