MOSCOW, IDAHO: As more speculations arise about the motive for the murders of the four University of Idaho by suspect Bryan Kohberger, a new subreddit thread theorized that Kohberger may not have been the actual killer but instead only an "accomplice." Kohberger was arrested on December 30, 2022, for allegedly killing four students — Ethan Chapin, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, and Kaylee Goncalves, 21. All four victims were stabbed to death with a fixed blade on November 13, 2022.
In the thread posted by Redditor in the discussion sub 'BryanKohberger', the user has laid out a series of points to theorize that the Idaho murder suspect was only an accomplice to the murders. "I saw someone earlier mention this theory briefly, and it's one I've had since the PCA but was scared to post about it so I want to expand on it," the Redditor wrote, sharing the post.

In the subreddit thread, the user expressed that several reported developments suggest that another person may have been involved in the crime that sent shockwaves across the country last year. Among the user's observations was that Kohberger reportedly asked police if someone else had been apprehended when he was being arrested. The user goes on to say, "I bet it was someone who knew them - statistically, way more people are murdered by an acquaintance than by a stranger and the lawyer today said there was no connection to the girls."
The absence of a clear motive in the Idaho murder case has fuelled several speculations, including various theories about Kohberger's mental health and comparisons to infamous serial killers such as Jeffrey Dahmer and Ted Bundy. This recent subreddit builds on some of those theories. The Redditor also mentioned that Kohberger's eyebrows are not "as bushy" as was described by a roommate of the victims, Dylan Mortensen, according to the court documents that uses her initials "DM". The documents quote the roommate as saying that she saw a figure "5’10" or taller, male, not very muscular, but athletically built with bushy eyebrows."
In the subreddit thread, the user writes, "His eyebrows aren't that bushy IMO, and lots of college guys are tall and athletic." The user also speculates that Kohberger's DNA found at the “tan leather knife sheath” is not a conclusive enough proof. "His DNA could've easily gotten on the knife. Maybe the guy was better at hiding his tracks," the user writes. Check out the thread below:
