'Watchmen' Episode 1 will see a country without internet and superheroes but many vigilantes

'Watchmen' Episode 1 will set the basis of the entire mini-series and will take us to a country with many restrictions and very few fighters.

Can you imagine the United States of America without the Internet? How about superheroes? There will be no Batman or Superman, and definitely no Iron Man either. This is the world that we will be introduced to in 'Watchmen', the HBO show created by Damon Lindelof. In a world where there is no right and the line between bad and good has blurred, we have one woman who is trying to fight injustice committed by the Seventh Kavalry.  The followers of Rorschach, who died 30 years ago, have possibly transformed into something that is beyond mayhem and murder. This group of men clearly do not follow the original set of rules that the Watchmen had followed 30 years ago. Lindelof had commented on how the beliefs of the Seventh Kavalry has watered down and has taken a life of its own. It has been speculated that the Seventh Kavalry has transformed into a white supremacist group which in the show targets the black population of Tulsa, Oklahoma and attacks them.

Of course, it is unclear if Ozymandias, who led, funded and organized the original 'Watchmen' comics continues to fund and support The Seventh Kavalry, seeing as he is a part of the show. He happens to be one of the few characters from the original comics to be a part of the show and his inclusion makes us wonder if Ozymandias will continue to manipulate and play God in the show. If you recall, he did manipulate the top world leaders into believing that Dr. Mahattan was responsible for blasting major cities on the planet to ensure that everyone came together, thereby putting an end to the Cold War. Over the course of the comics, Dr. Manhattan and Ozymandias had arrived at a consensus that this decision was for the best, but in Lindelof's show, Ozymandias' motives may not be what he has projected it to be to the Seventh Kavalry members.

Wouldn't Dr. Manhattan realize what Ozymandias is planning and thereby render support to Angela Abar (Regina King), aka Sister Night, who is fighting the Seventh Kavalry? Both Ozymandias and Dr. Manhattan are known to pull strings and it would be interesting to see whose side the country and its people are on. In one of the trailers, Dr. Mahattan's masks were being worn by people and it seemed like many were even celebrating his existence, even if he currently resides in Mars. Not for long, necessarily since there were many hints in the trailers of Dr. Manhattan possibly returning to Earth.

Will this throw a wrench in the Seventh Kavalry's plan? Also, where exactly does Sister Night fit into all of this? She definitely is not on the side of the government that has imposed multiple restrictions which is definitely not in the best interest of its citizens. She is also not on the side of the cops who are also fighting the Seventh Kavalry, but is working alongside them as Sister Night to bring members of the Seventh Kavalry to justice. The episode will set a basis for all of this to take place in the future.

The first episode of 'Watchmen' will air on HBO on October 20 at 9 pm ET.
