Washington Commanders fame Brian Robinson survives being shot TWICE by car thieves, condition stable

WASHINGTON, DC: Washington Commanders star Brian Robinson was shot in an attempted carjacking and robbery on Sunday, August 28. The professional American football team's rookie running back Brian, 23, was shot multiple times and rushed to the hospital.

Washington DC Police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck confirmed that the shooting took place before 6 pm on August 28 in the 1000 block of H Street NE. Brian's injuries sustained during the incident were not life-threatening.

Sternbeck also told the Washington Post that Brian was shot twice by gunfire and taken to a hospital for treatment. He added that the injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening. As per another report by The Washington Times, Brian, who was enlisted by the Commanders in the third round of the 2022 NFL draft, was shot on the Northeast side of DC when the two accused tried to steal his Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat. The 23 year old's condition was also reported to be stable by the outlet.

An investigation has been launched to trace the two suspects who are juveniles. The police spokesman Dustin confirmed that the two fled the scene, and have been described as having shoulder-length dreadlocks. One of the suspects was seen in a brown or black shirt with smiley faces on it. One DC resident shared a picture on Twitter, which captured police activity near the alleged shooting scene. The user said that the street "looks like it was between 9th and 10th."



 

Meanwhile, The Washington Commanders released a statement on the incident, "we have been made aware that Brian Robinson, Jr was the victim of an attempted armed robbery or carjacking in Washington, DC. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is currently being treated at the hospital, where Team officials are on-site with him." The statement added, "we ask that you please respect Brian's privacy at this time."

Young player with bright future

Brian Robinson Jr was born on March 22, 1999, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He studied at the Hillcrest High School, where he rushed for 990 yards and 18 touchdowns as a senior and was named second team Class 6A All-State.Brian was given a four-star recruit and is committed to play at the University of Alabama.

As an undergrad, Brian rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns as a reserve player behind Najee Harris and Josh Jacobs. He achieved 272 yards and two touchdowns on 63 carries in his sophomore season. Brian was also named as the most valuable player of the 2021 Cotton Bowl Classic after rushing for 204 yards, a school record for a bowl game.
