Was Michel Paul Fourniret Robert Boulin's REAL killer?
PARIS, FRANCE: Netflix true crime docuseries 'Monique Olivier: Accessory to Evil' centers on the wife of France's most notorious serial killer. Michel Paul Fourniret cemented his status as France's most notorious killer between 1987 and 2003. His wife Monique Olivier was sentenced to 28 years in prison for her involvement in the murders, which is still somewhat mysterious. The five-part docuseries now exposes the truth about her role in her husband's brutal crimes through numerous testimonies and probes.
Fourniret admitted to killing 12 people in France and Belgium between 1987 and 2003. Following his arrest in June 2003 for the attempted kidnapping of a teen girl in Ciney, he admitted to killing nine people—eight females and one male—in 2004, having been informed on by his then-wife, as per Wikipedia. According to some reports, Olivier's husband allegedly murdered a former French labor minister named Robert Boulin.

Who was Robert Boulin?
Robert Boulin was a French politician who held the position of Minister of Labor in the French cabinet. He was at the center of a significant real estate scandal that only came to an end with his untimely death. He was the longest-serving cabinet minister in French history.
How did he die?
Boulin, who served as the former president Valery Giscard d'Estaing's labor minister, was discovered dead in a small pond in the Rambouillet Forest, south of Paris. An investigation at the time concluded that he died by suicide on October 30, 1979. His family's attorney claimed that fresh evidence had come to light that suggested the minister may have been abducted on the night of his death. His daughter Fabienne Boulin-Burgeat fought for the reopening of the investigation into his death and long disputed the suicide hypothesis. She thought he was killed because he knew about unethical political funding methods, reported RFI.
Was Michel Fourniret the real killer of Robert Boulin?
According to France Soir, two French journalists claimed that Fourniret killed Boulin, who was at the time involved in a real estate dispute, based on a letter Fourniret penned to Olivier. Christian Ranucci was one of the last persons to be put to death in France after being found guilty of the kidnapping and murder of eight-year-old Marie-Dolorès Rambla on June 3, 1974.
There were speculations that Ranucci might not have been the murderer due to the repeated retractions of his confession. Fourniret was believed to be in the area at the time and had nearly the same car as Ranucci, so it was speculated that he was involved.
However, a careful examination of courtroom photos from Ranucci's trial in March 1976 by a specialist indicated that the courtroom observer in the pictures could not have been Fourniret, who, in contrast to this man, did not yet wear spectacles and did not have a chin cleft. In addition, Fourniret claimed he was working in Paris on the night of the crime, June 3, 1974, and denied being in the Marseille region, as per L'OBS.
