A dark cloud is on the horizon. The chilling death of Mayor Samuel Blake (Christian McKay) in ‘Warrior’ will spill doom after the bloodthirsty fight between him and his wife Penelope Blake (Joanna Vanderham). Right at the moment when he was about to squeeze the life out of her, Penny's trusted manservant Jacob (Kenneth Fok) entered the scene and slid a sword into his neck. Blood splattered all across the floor and Samuel lay there — frozen, lifeless.

In Episode 8 ‘All Enemies, Foreign and Domestic’, Walter Buckley (Langley Kirkwood) takes Blake's spot and is told, “Congratulations, Mr Mayor! The city is yours.” Meanwhile, Penny faces a set of questions after her husband's murder. When she is asked, “Did you kill your husband,” she replies, “It all happened so quickly.” They draw the conclusion: “The Chinaman killed the Mayor. We take that sort of thing personally.”

Penny tries to protect Jacob and sends him off with a wad of cash but Sophie Mercer (Céline Buckens) is silly enough to spill the truth to the officers. It's no secret that Americans are looking for a spark to blow up Chinatown, could this be the one? Will Jacob be the scapegoat for the chaos that will soon strike Chinatown?

A huge riot ensues as the police officers of San Francisco led by Sergeant Bill O'Hara (Kieran Bew) declare, “Chinatown is closed. My men will not stop tearing this place apart.” Jacob goes missing and a “Wanted” poster floats around as cops hunt him. Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji) and Wang Chao (Hoon Lee) are quizzed about the whereabouts of Jacob and both assure they do not have the slightest idea.

In a major cliffhanger, the final scene shows Jacob in front of Chao. “Please help me...” he begs him. What will Chao do? Will he lead the cops to Jacob or will his soft heart melt for the innocent man who committed a murder in defense? Will all the Tongs reunite to protect a Chinese man from being prosecuted, or worse, hanged?

“Jacob's about to become a really important character for the worst possible reasons... And damn, that was one of the most convincing ‘oh shit, I f---ed up, but I had kinda no choice’ faces I've ever seen on TV,” one Reddit fan said, and another continued, “I wonder why he couldn't just have pushed him off or knocked him out.” A third joined in, “Has it been shown if Jacob is connected in any way to a tong? I wonder who he's gonna get to help clean that mess up. Can't wait to see the council meeting involving Young Jun.”

Directed by Jonathan Tropper, Evan Endicott and Josh Stoddard, the episode will air on Friday, November 20, 2020. Catch more episodes of ‘Warrior’ Season 2 on Cinemax every Friday from 10 pm ET to 11 pm ET.
