Major spoilers for 'Warrior' Season 2 Episode 2 titled 'The Chinese Connection'

At the beginning of 'Warrior' Season 2 Episode 2, it is clear that Bill (Kieran Bew) is still working for the Chinese mob in collecting debts. How much longer can he hide the truth from his partner Lee (Tom Weston-Jones)? Now. especially when Lee is suffering from pain still and obsessing Over crimes committed by the same person with the sword. During the investigation, he realizes one thing common between the victims and that is the fact that all of them are racists who targetted the Chinese laborers, and this includes the recent victims -- the Teddy Boys.

In the meanwhile, business owners have to the Mayor's office for an Emergency meeting after Leary bombed one of their buildings for hiring Chinese laborers. Of course, Mayor Blake's (Christian McKay) office refuses to acknowledge Penny (Joanna Vanderham) as a business owner and so do not invite her over. She manages to find out about the meeting, barges in, and ends up overpowering her husband in an argument about helping business owners secure their property. He is shocked that She would not only run a business but run it well. The more he and Leary pressurize her to abandon her Chinese Labourers, the more she wants to rebel. She even goes to the extent of meeting Ah Sahm and asking for Hop Wei's help. He refuses of course, especially after the way he was treated and called him a criminal. He has his own problems to deal with at the moment.

Walter Buckley and Mai Ling in 'Warrior' season 2, episode 2. (Cinemax)

At the end of the last episode, we saw how Ah Sahm had approached Vega for an alternate source to buy the molasses. They get the contact details of a Black mab who get the molasses for them but they do not keep their word. The men had promised Ah Sahm and Young Jun that they will also store the molasses until it can be moved bit by bit.  However, because cops are tightening hold all-around and raiding properties Ah Sahm is left to deal with a mess. He needs to find a place to store the goods and ensure that his plan is not revealed to Father Jun.

Ah Sahm's main aim is to be able to kick Mai Ling out of the Long Zii Tong. In this attempt, Ah Sahm has Young Jun's support. However, it is not too far before things get out of hand and a man is at the doors of all the Tongs. In the meanwhile, Mai Ling's association with Deputy Mayor Walter Buckley continues and his latest instructions are to wreak chaos in the Tongs. Is her attempt to teach one of the Tongs that cut into Long Zii's business an extension of her plan to cater to the Deputy Mayor's wishes?

What is certain however is that Mai Ling might just have lost her only confidante in the process of accumulating more power. That play of Beethoven's 'Moonlight Sonata' transitioning into the terrific at the end of the episode transitioning into a brilliant rap song keeps up with all of the changes that Ah Sahm and the people around him see.

'Warrior' Season 2 episodes are aired on Cinemax every Friday at 10 pm ET.
