After fans were quite disheartened with the ending of the limited series, 'WandaVision', Marvel took their feelings into consideration. In October 2021, it was reported that a 'WandaVision' spin-off series centered on Agatha Harkness was in development for Disney+ with Kathryn Hahn set to reprise her role as the title character and that Jac Schaeffer was attached to write and executive produce. Soon, Marvel confirmed that the Agatha Harkness series titled 'Agatha: House of Harkness' was in development and might be released in the fifth phase of the MCU.

However, at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Kevin Feige announced that the series would premiere in Winter 2023. It was also announced that the series had been retitled from 'Agatha: House of Harkness' to 'Agatha: Coven of Chaos'. Nonetheless, according to Variety, a source said Aubrey Plaza is joining Kathryn Hahn in the upcoming Marvel Studios series 'Agatha: Coven of Chaos' at Disney+. Although exact plot details, including the character Plaza, would play in the show, are being kept under wraps by the creators. Recently, Plaza starred in the second season of the HBO anthology series 'The White Lotus.' Fans seem to be pretty supportive of this decision of the franchise.

The series is a spin-off of and a sequel to 'WandaVision.' It is the 25th television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the eighth installment of Phase 5, based on the Marvel comic book antagonist character of the same name. The series is produced by Marvel Studios and will be released on Disney+. Hahn’s Agatha Harkness appeared in Disney+’s WandaVision, from series creator Jac Schaeffer. 'WandaVision; is centered on Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany), two superpowered beings living their ideal suburban lives in the town of Westview, NJ, who begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems. Agatha, who won viewers over with her “Agatha All Along” number, is a witch from Salem and a fan-favorite breakout character. Schaeffer, under a joint overall deal with Marvel and 20th Television, serves as writer and executive producer on the spinoff.

However, after the news surfaced online fans could barely keep calm. A fan said, "Suddenly Agatha’s show is my most anticipated marvel show." A fan commented, "Coven of chaos already the best 2023 MCU show," while another added, "This is amazing, hope it’s not just a one off and she sticks around. Dream come true for us, Lizzie and Aubrey LOL." A fan tweeted, "I’m sold! Ms.Plaza’s work in the criminally underrated “Legion” is more than enough of a showcase." A fan shared, "this is literally the best day of my life i feel crazy."
