WSJ claps back at Trump, dismisses him as 'most famous resident of Mar-a-Lago' and recommends 'counseling'

In a scathing response to Trump's comment that 'nobody cares much about The Wall Street Journal editorial anymore,' the publication said, 'For someone who says we don't matter, he sure spends a lot of time reading and responding to us'

The Wall Street Journal has hit back at Donald Trump after the former president called it out for writing a piece against him. The editors of the conservative paper owned by Rupert Murdoch had earlier said that "The country is moving past the Trump Presidency, and the GOP will remain in the wilderness until it does too” after accusing the Republican of inciting the Capitol riots that claimed the lives of five people.

In response, Trump issued a press release that read, “The Wall Street Journal editorial page continues, knowingly, to fight for globalist policies such as bad trade deals, open borders, and endless wars that favor other countries and sell out our great American workers, and they fight for RINOS that have so badly hurt the Republican Party.” He also added, “Fortunately, nobody cares much about The Wall Street Journal editorial anymore."

But The Wall Street Journal did not hold back after Trump’s criticism and wrote another piece, mocking the ex-leader in an indirect way as it stated, “For someone who says we don't matter, he sure spends a lot of time reading and responding to us. Thanks for the attention." The editors made fun of Trump as they accused him of failing to accept his loss in the 2020 presidential election. They said, “Former Presidents and Vice Presidents have told us how psychologically difficult the early months of lost political power can be. We can therefore empathize if former President Trump is frustrated these days, and perhaps that explains his attack on us Thursday over his role in the GOP's loss of the Senate.”

They continued: “What really seems to rankle the most famous resident of Mar-a-Lago isn't his caricature of our policy differences. It's that we recognize the reality that Mr. Trump is the main reason Republicans lost two Georgia Senate races in January and thus the Senate majority. Mr. Trump refuses to take responsibility for those defeats, contrary to all evidence,” before adding: “It matters to GOP fortunes going forward. In the single Trump term, Republicans lost the House, White House and finally the Senate. How can it be that everyone other than the most prominent Republican in the country is responsible for victories but not the defeats that have left Republicans in the wilderness?"

Concluding their attack at Trump, the editors wrote, “Losing to Joe Biden of all people, and by 7.1 million votes as an incumbent president, must be painful. Counseling could be in order. Any good analyst will explain that the first step toward recovery is to accept reality."

Twitter also has a lot to say about The Wall Street Journal’s response to Trump as one user commented, “He will be the most Famous inmate, when soon in Prison.” The second user tweeted, “While a WSJ response goes a long way, what about something significant! Already breaching his '93 Agreement stating HE WOULD NEVER LIVE IN PALM BEACH, hes got new issue! As a SELF CONFESSED SEX PREDATOR, & still DEFYING COURT ORDER TO PROVIDE DNA, he must get permission 2live FL.”

“The WSJ suggestion that the former guy accept reality is like asking a hamster to accept quantum physics,” a person noted while another one added, “The Wall Street Journal just put Trump in his place.”
