Spoilers for 'The Walking Dead'

'The Walking Dead' is back with a Season 10 bonus episode and we couldn't be more ecstatic. The first of the bonus six episodes is Season 10 Episode 17 'Home Sweet Home' and showrunner Angela Kang dished on the details. The first episode that was released was directed by David Boyd and written by Kevin Deiboldt and Corey Reed. Its summary reads, "Maggie (Lauren Cohan) has returned with a story she is not ready to share, even when her past catches up to her. Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) safety is at stake again. Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Maggie fight an unseen and unknown threat."

So yes, we're to finally find out what happened to Maggie before we had seen her in the Season 10 finale. But wait, there's also a new threat. The Reapers and we wonder how brutal this will be, will it make us miss The Whisperers or The Saviours?

'The Walking Dead' Season 10 Episode 17 Preview: Maggie is back to a 'free' Negan, but will she forgive him

What's the deal with The Reapers?

As per reports, it is revealed that Maggie had been helping Georgie in supporting the other communities in the Zombie universe, as she explains to Daryl that she and Hershel had found "a whole community of people who needed us as much as we needed them". But Maggie is back, so did she leave those so-called communities behind? If so, why? The answer? The Reapers.

This new threat has now been following Maggie and the other survivors trying to kill them. Although only one Reaper is introduced in 'Home Sweet Home', he does enough damage to make us wonder if Negan or Alpha were less brutal villains. While the name of this Reaper isn't revealed, he does tell Maggie "Pope marked you" before he kills himself making us wonder how loyal these folks are to their "cause" and leader.

Angela Kang teases the threat

"There is this new threat that our people realize has followed Maggie back from the town that she was staying in. Without getting too deeply into spoiler territory, I'll just say that whenever you meet people in The Walking Dead, there is that question: is this a closed book? Or is this just something that is part of something bigger?" Kang told Digital Spy. Now that we know there is a character called Pope, we wondered what he or she is like. Kang revealed, "(The Reaper) leaves Maggie with this strange, cryptic message. There may be some significance to these things that we show. Just please keep watching, and we'll show how it unfolds."

Unfortunately, since many fans of the show have read the iconic comics, The Reapers or the pope are not part of the comic universe, so we're stumped on who they might be. Like Kang said, we'll only get answers after we watch the upcoming episodes. There are six bonus episodes, so we're sure there is a lot more to come in terms of character-driven storylines.

Who are The Reapers and who's Pope?

The publication Digital Spy and other people that are part of #TWD fandom also wondered if the Reapers have anything to do with the CRM that was responsible for taking OG Rick? What we do know as per reports is that the Reper that is initially brought in has military training, which is little more than what we've seen when compared to the multiple other factions. These people could simply be another group trying to be the top dog or could be helping groups that we've seen or heard of before in the series' older seasons. We're assuming Pope is the new villain we have to watch out for.

'The Walking Dead' Season 10, Episode 17 'Home Sweet Home' will premiere on Sunday, February 28, at 9 pm EST. You can watch the extended official trailer below.
