Walk to Work Day is celebrated on the first Friday of April, every year. This event encourages individuals to give up their vehicles and choose a more environmentally friendly way to get to work—walking.

This day, which was created to promote a healthier and more environmentally friendly lifestyle, supports the global initiative to reach net-zero emissions and a cleaner future. The Australian Government has given its backing to the Pedestrian Council of Australia's plan for the event.

History of Walk to Work Day

Since 2000, the Australian government has observed the day, with 2003 being the first year in which a date was agreed upon by all Australian states. It is also a great tension reliever, as it allows the senses to absorb a variety of environmental stimuli. This day is commemorated by the Prevention magazine and the US Department of Health.

Health benefits of walking every day

The benefits increase if you walk more frequently, faster, and farther, stated Mayo Clinic. Here are a few health benefits of walking every day:

2. Strengthen your bones and muscles.

3. Improve your mood, cognition, memory, and sleep.

4. Reduce stress and tension.

5. Improve your balance and coordination.

UK Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Matt Field tweeted, "Another great #WalkToWork."
