Vivek Ramaswamy hailed for skewering Chris Cuomo in epic takedown over Nikki Haley

'You’re part of the mainstream media despite pretending that you’re not,' Vivek Ramaswamy told Chris Cuomo

BUTLER COUNTY, OHIO: During an interview on Monday, November 13, between NewsNation host Chris Cuomo and Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, things got heated as Cuomo advised Ramaswamy to refrain from attacking his rival, Nikki Haley, telling him she "keeps kicking your ass."

At the beginning of the interview, Cuomo played a compilation of clips from the third Republican primary debate, which showed Haley calling Ramaswamy "scum" and telling him to "leave my daughter out of your voice" after Ramaswamy mentioned that Haley's daughter had used TikTok.

Later, during the interview, Ramaswamy called out Cuomo for lying to the American people and asked him what he was "smoking."

What went down on Monday’s NewsNation interview?

On Monday’s NewsNation interview, Chris Cuomo acknowledged that he had provided support for his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, when confronted by Vivek Ramaswamy.

The conversation took a chaotic turn when Ramaswamy pushed Cuomo to admit to covering for his brother.

Cuomo began the interview by asking the entrepreneur, “Ramaswamy, why do you keep going at Nikki Haley?”

Ramaswamy replied, “Chris, I don’t know what you’ve been smoking, man. You and the rest of the mainstream media, it’s laughable. Nikki Haley’s been going after me the whole campaign.”

Calling Nikki Haley a media "puppet" of the establishment, Vivek criticized the Washington elites for leading America into another war.

“The grassroots of this country know they want a leader who isn't going to send us, our sons and daughters, to go die in foreign wars that racked up $7 trillion in debt,” he said.

The two men continued to exchange digs when Ramaswamy snapped, “You’re part of the mainstream media despite pretending that you’re not. Look the audience in the eye and tell them how you covered for your brother.”

Cuomo responded, “You don’t want to take care of your family, that’s fine.”

“Of course I covered for my brother. Of course I help my brother. Of course I do,” he added.

In December 2021, Chris Cuomo was terminated from his position at CNN due to allegations of aiding his brother's sexual harassment defense.

Ramaswamy replied, “And you know what? That’s been journalistic standards that have now been failed, not just by you, but by every member of the broken political media.”

Cuomo questioned Vivek's claims by asking him, “Everyone in the media is responsible for covering for my brother?”

Then he told Ramaswamy, “You can talk a lot and yet not say anything.”

Ramaswamy was quick with his rebuttal, “You would know a lot about that, Chris.”

Cuomo asked Ramaswamy, “Nikki Haley is my Trojan Horse?” before bursting into laughter.

Ramaswamy claimed, “Well the fact of the matter is you guys have made a career out of deciding that the America First agenda is not the future of this country,”

He continued his attack on the mainstream media saying, “Kick that out of the Republican Party, put a genteel version that you can control as your little puppet, so American politics looks the way you want it to.”

Cuomo stated, “Vivek, there’s a reason that she’s beating you in the polls.”

The NewsNation host then presented a graphic from RealClearPolitics displaying the latest poll results coming out of the third GOP Debate.

The graphic indicated that Haley has a lead of almost 5% over Ramaswamy.

“According to the left-wing media. Chris, give me a freaking break,” Ramaswamy replied.

“You turn on social media, you understand," he added. "People should watch that debate. I went to New Hampshire, people were laughing at the idea of the mainstream media’s coverage, or the New York Times columnists and people like you who belong there with one narrative because you have some identity politic vision of what you think a leader of this country should look like.”

Internet applauds Vivek Ramaswamy’s fiery response

The Internet lapped up the fiery exchange between the Republican presidential candidate and the Newsnation host as many people sided with Vivek's no-nonsense rebuttals over Cuomo's line of questioning.

One X user said, "I forgot Chris Cuomo still had a job somewhere. I’m going to try to go back to forgetting that."

Another wrote, "Vivek definitely knows how to think quickly on his feet. What Chris expected when he invited him on is beyond me, but if he thought he would make Vivek look bad, that didn’t go well."

Someone else noted, "Vivek is awesome The MSM needs to be put in their place."

One user wrote, "I tell you what I have a whole lot of respect for Vivek. He's not afraid to take on the corporate media, and he doesn't care whose high heels he steps on he's telling the truth and he said he's a younger Trump he just might get in the next Trump administration."
