Vivek Ramaswamy gets candid on 'Fox & Friends', reveals why he transitioned to Republican politics
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'Fox & Friends' weekend hosts Pete Hegseth, Rachel Campos-Duffy, and Will Cain, recently got a chance to take presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy through his journey to becoming politically Republican.
The Indian-origin CEO-turned-politician has been slammed previously for not always belonging to the right wing and only doing so closer to the time for the 2024 presidential election.
During the 'Fox & Friends' interview, Ramaswamy delved into his transition from having a neutral stance in politics to embracing a full-fledged Republican personality.
Vivek Ramaswamy became a Republican based on his experiences
Hosts Pete Hegseth and Will Cain went back and forth with Vivek Ramaswamy on his changing political stance and how it might concern the Republican voters during the upcoming elections, as per Mediaite.
"What’s your answer to voters who say, who’s the Vivek today versus the Vivek of things we might see from the past?" asked Hegseth, to which Ramaswamy replied, "I didn’t come out of the birth canal spouting Republican talking points," adding, "That’s true. I came to my views based on my experiences."
The GOP candidate then referenced the time when people united for the Black Lives Matter movement and businesses were being asked for their involvement, stating it as a pivotal point in changing his political views.
"I was a CEO who, like so many CEOs, was browbeaten into potentially making statements on behalf of Black Lives Matter after George Floyd died among CEOs in America," said Ramaswamy.
He continued, "I was unique in saying that I refused to do it. To say that businesses should stay out of politics and should focus on profits. That ultimately led me to a journey that’s caused me to arrive at the pro-American views that I espouse today."
Vivek Ramaswamy answers to those questioning his sincerity toward Republican views
Previously, fellow Republicans have questioned Vivek Ramaswamy about his recent change to a Republican stance and if it was only for convenience.
Will Cain vocalized those thoughts and asked, "There does seem to be a transition in your political ideology, and that makes people question: is it legitimate or is it convenient? So when did this transformation take place?" to the GOP candidate.
Ramaswamy came clean and revealed the past of his political standing, saying, "It started around 2020."
He added, "I mean, I was apolitical before 2020. There were years, many people pointed out in much of my twenties, I didn’t vote. That’s accurate. I was disillusioned by partisan politics. I voted Libertarian in my first election, and I sat it out for McCain and Obama and even Romney and Obama."
The GOP candidate seems to put the death of George Floyd and the following BLM movement from an entrepreneur's perspective as the starting point of his Republican journey.
"I think of myself as standing for this pro-American agenda. And when your experiences bring you to your views, you hold them that much more strongly," stated Ramaswamy.
