Vivek Ramaswamy fans rush to his defense after claims he's 'too much like Obama'
DES MOINES, IOWA: GOP candidate Vivek Ramaswamy garnered internet support as trolls accused him of appropriating former president Barack Obama's phrases and ideas for his public addresses.
An X user, working under the name of Wall Street Apes, recently shared a video drawing a comparison between Obama and Ramaswamy’s “talking point.”
“Watch as Vivek Ramaswamy repeatedly uses Barack Obama’s talking points & even word-for-word copies Obama. They fooled you once, will they fool you again?” the post caption read.

In the video, the 44th US president was seen saying, “This is not a Democrat or Republican idea. This is an American idea.” A similar statement was made by the Roivant Sciences founder, who stated, “These are not Democrat ideals or Republican ideals. These are fundamentally American ideals.”
During the first GOP debate, Ramaswamy previously referred to himself as “skinny guy”, saying, "Who the heck is this skinny guy with a funny last name? What the heck is he doing in the middle of this debate stage?"
However, Obama also alluded to himself as a "skinny kid with a funny name" while speaking at the 2004 Democratic National Convention while still a senator from the United States, four years before he would become the president.
At one point, the video made a comparison between their statements regarding Russia. “Russia, the 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back. The cold war has been over for 20 years,” Obama said during the final presidential debate on October 22, 2012, while criticizing Gov Mitt Romney.
Similarly, Ramaswamy also stated, “I have a newsflash. The USSR does not exist anymore. It fell back in 1990.”
Internet defends Vivek Ramaswamy
After the video surfaced on Twitter, many users rushed to defend Ramaswamy, with some saying that these are commonly used political remarks.
“Those phrases are commonly used by many politicians. Because it's history,” one user said. “I think it's a brilliant political strategy on Vivek's part. Everything he says is strategically thought over and this is a way to get votes from those that voted for Obama to vote for him too,” a second user declared.

“Vivek isn't copying Baracky's rather uninspired words. He's stating the obvious, as many have,” another asserted, while a person also said, “Those are common subjects phrases and examples people use in political speech. He’s nothing like Obama at all.”

“The problems he points out are problems I think are valid and are problems I don't hear from any other candidates. Don't count him out for using the same tools that have been proven to work,” another supporter said in Ramaswamy's defense.
“Nope. Saying all the right things without a flaw is sus,” another user said. “No way, Barak preached social justice. Vivek preaches meritocracy. They are not the same, I don't buy this,” one more stated.

Vivek Ramaswamy slams Donna Brazile
This video came after Ramaswamy slammed Democratic strategist Donna Brazile for “racist” mockery and alleged that she intentionally mispronounced his name during an appearance on the Friday, November 25, episode of ‘Real Time with Bill Maher’.
During a panel discussion with former Representative Adam Kinzinger and host of the show Bill Maher, Brazile mispronounced the name of the Indian-American entrepreneur many times, saying, "Vivek needs to just shut the hell up and go home."
“Well, whatever. Vi-Vake,” she brushed off, pronouncing his name properly this time. “Would you say that about others?” Maher said but was interrupted by Brazile.
I wonder what they’d do if a white Republican intentionally mispronounced Donna’s name & then told her to return “home.” 😂 https://t.co/UIfiSCU6p6
