MIAMI, FLORIDA: Republican presidential hopefuls Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former envoy to the US Nikki Haley, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and Senator Tim Scott sparred on the stage of the third GOP debate in Miami, Florida, on Wednesday, November 8. 

A host of issues were raised, including the ongoing wars in Israel and Ukraine, the standoff with China and Iran, immigration, and the absence of Donald Trump in the lead-up to the 2024 presidential elections.

But the most glaring aspect coming out of the event was the infighting observed on stage as Ramaswamy targeted Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel over the losses the party faced on Tuesday in states like Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio.

"What, exactly, does Ronna McDaniel do, besides lose? The only thing she SHOULD do is RESIGN. Effective immediately," posted former Fox News contributor Monica Crowley, highlighting GOP's loss in key elections. 

Political commentator John Solomon as well as former Trump advisor Steve Bannon also called for her resignation. 

What did Vivek Ramaswamy say about the RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel?

During the third GOP debate, Vivek Ramaswamy took shots at RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, asking her to resign immediately as he listed the losses of his own party. 

When the entrepreneur was asked what sets him apart as a better choice for Republican voters, he put the blame on McDaniel for weakening the red wave across the country, pointing out that the party has consistently been showing poor results.

"I think there's something deeper going on in the Republican party here. And I am upset about what happened last night. We've become a party of losers at the end of the day," said Ramaswamy. 

Pointing out a "cancer" in the red party, he repeatedly brought up McDaniel and her performance. 

The entrepreneur stated, "Let's speak the truth. I mean, since Ronna McDaniel took over as chairwoman of the RNC in 2017, we have lost 2018, 2020, 2022, no red wave that never came."

He noted the major defeat the Republican party suffered in Virginia with former Governor Glenn Youngkin and expressed his concern for the upcoming presidential election, stating, "We got trounced last night in 2023. And I think we have to have accountability in our party."

"For that matter on, if you want to come on the stage tonight, you want to look at the GOP voters in the eye and tell them you resign, I will turn over my time to you," asserted Ramaswamy, calling for McDaniel's resignation. 

Ronna McDaniel responds to Vivek Ramaswamy after the third GOP debate

While speaking with Katie Pavlich of Townhall.com directly after the debate, RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel responded to Vivek Ramaswamy's criticism against her. 

She began, "I'm going to focus on beating Joe Biden. I wish that's what all the candidates did. I'm not running for president." 

Focusing on her achievements from the last six years, McDaniel noted, "I'm very proud of the fact that under my tenure we won back the House. We now are getting investigations into the Bidens. I also, as Michigan chair for the first time in 30 years, won a state that Democrats hadn't been in."

She continued, "I'm very proud of the fact that we're going to have staff in 15 states heading into 2024. But I'll leave other people to attack Republicans. I'm going to focus on Democrats." 

At the closing moments of the interview, she reminded her fellow Republicans, "I will say this. We can't attack each other and win. We need all of us."

She urged her colleagues to focus on the issues at hand, mentioning, "So if you're taking time to attack another Republican, especially one you're not even running against, maybe let's think about how we talk about the border, fentanyl crime, Joe Biden, and the things that Americans want to hear about because they're really hurting." 

"And again, we have to remember, as a party, we're not going to win if we're dividing amongst each other, it's about addition. And then we've got to bring other people into our party. 42% of this country is now independent, and we can't be in an echo chamber of Republicans," further stated the RNC chairwoman. 

She concluded, "And I would ask. Calm down the vitriol. Stop attacking. Let's remember what we're trying to save, which is our country. And the Democrats love it when we're attacking each other. You're not going to see that from me." 

Internet echoes Vivek Ramaswamy's sentiments over RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel

After Vivek Ramaswamy called for the resignation of RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel during the third GOP debate, netizens seemed to agree, especially due to the massive losses that the party faced in several key elections. 

One wrote, "she's one of the most smug, arrogant people I've ever seen," while another added, "She is a joke and should resign. @ScottPresler had to win those PA races all by himself with no help from @GOPChairwoman. It was sad to watch."

"Freaking resign Ronna!" expressed a person, as someone else said, "3 losses are grounds for resignation."

One expressed, "Ronna McDaniel says everything is just fine. She’s doing a great job. Everyone must avoid shooting inside the RNC tent. Well…everything is not fine and there needs to be changes well ahead of 2024 which includes a new RNC chairperson."

"Ronna should be humiliated by her failures. If she has any decency she would resign now," noted someone else, with a person saying, "Establishment all the way, and completely out of touch with most Americans. “They know what’s best for us”. The only thing she’s been good at, is sabotaging her own party. Resign already."
