QUEENS, NEW YORK CITY: A man who dragged an 11-year-old girl into a Queens alley and threatened her with sexual assault before fleeing with her belongings on Sunday, July 25, is wanted by the NYPD, said reports.

The NYPD had announced that in June 2021, overall index crime in the city rose 3.1% compared with June 2020. Earlier this week, an off-duty FDNY firefighter walking his dog in Queens was attacked by a swarm of '100' angry kids. The same week, a man by the name of Elvis Nina Pichardo had reportedly tried to rape three women in one hour at an NYC park.

New York has seen an uptick in violent crimes in recent months. According to reports, 687 people were injured or killed in police-reported gun violence through June 6, which is the most since 2000. Early this month, Governor Andrew Cuomo issued a first-in-the-nation executive order declaring gun violence in New York a 'disaster emergency'.

In the newest incident, an unidentified man struck the 11-year-old girl while she was strolling around 86th Street and Northern Boulevard in Jackson Heights around 8.45 am on Sunday, July 25. The man threw her to the ground and put a sharp metal instrument to her throat while making sexual threats and demanding to know her age, according to police.

According to detectives, the attacker snatched the victim's house keys, $20, and a reusable grocery bag before fleeing northbound on 86th Street on foot. A gash to the girl's throat necessitated treatment at a local hospital, the New York Post reported on Tuesday.

The NYPD Crime Stoppers Twitter handle shared a video of the shocking incident. In it, a man dressed in an all-black outfit with a black cap and white shoes was seen fleeing. In one part of the video, he had his cap off, showing his black hair. He also had a black backpack. The video showed him being chased by another man wearing white shorts and a blue shirt.
