'Vida' Season 3 Episode 5 starts with a shocking turn of events. Lyn decides to get baptized after having reconnected with her father recently. He is a priest who claims to have redefined himself and has changed a lot after having found god. Lyn, who had for the longest time felt lonely and as if she was orphaned cannot leave this chance to find a family with Victor. So she tries to impress Victor as much as possible and this seems to include getting baptized in Victor's church.

At the same time, Lyn is also trying to make her boyfriend Rudy happy. She tries to become the girlfriend who can make the councilman boyfriend happy and the first step is to try and get along with his mother. However, Rudy's mother doesn't accept her and finds her not worthy of her son. Lyn is a Chicana who cannot even speak Mexican, so Rudy's mother doesn't deem her capable of being the right partner to Rudy.

To add salt to the wound, Lyn's boyfriend also tells her "to just look pretty as she usually does". It was as if she doesn't have a brain or capabilities of her own and this also disturbs Lyn but not enough to call Rudy out, but enough to have her sit and sulk. Amid this, she also meets her ex-boyfriend Johnny with his baby and baby mother, and that also dampens her mood further. With all of this running in her mind, Lyn forgets something very important.

She had promised to help Emma run the bar that night since Emma had taken pills to abort her pregnancy. This was one of the very few occasions when she had really needed Lyn's help but because Lyn was so self-involved, there was not much that Lyn did to help her sister. While this in itself was not enough to have Emma lose her trust in Lyn, things go south when Lyn ends up bringing her father over to Vida.

She did not intend to bring him to the bar, but Victor had only tried to drop Lyn at Vida, however, seeing Victor while she was going through a tough time dealing with the club doesn't do anything to help Emma. Especially considering that just moments before, Nico had told her that she would be quitting. Nico and Emma were unable to resolve the differences that had cropped up in their relationship recently. So to hear that Nico would be leaving the city and Lyn not being there; Emma feels abandoned all over again and finally she loses it. She tells Lyn that she was a liar and was never someone to be trusted.

This episode might truly spell the end for the sisters' relationship, something that was fragile in the first place to begin with. With just one episode left in the show, how will Lyn and Emma resolve this huge rift that has cropped up between them?
