After the Spice Girls announced their 2019 UK reunion tour without Victoria Beckham, the media went into a frenzy speculating the reasons for her absence. Amid the speculative buzz, Posh Spice took to Instagram to formally announce that she won't be a part of the tour and her reasons for the same.

The Instagram post was a group picture of the band with Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner. “Today marks a special day for the girls as they announce the first tour dates since we performed together in 2012!” read the caption. “I won’t be joining my girls on stage again but being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish them so much love and fun as they go back on tour next year."

The caption ended with Beckham writing, “I know they will put on an amazing show and the fantastic fans past and present are going to have a wonderful time! X vb #spicegirls

The former Spice Girl released an official statement saying that her business commitments were the reason for her being unable to take part in the tour. She went on to say that she will always be one of the Spice Girls and will preserve their unique legacy by continuing to remain aligned with Emma, Mel B, Melanie C and Geri, according to Who magazine.

Newshub reports that details for the 2019 reunion tour were revealed when  Melanie 'Mel B' Brown, Emma Bunton, Geri Horner and Melanie Chisholm posted a video online. The Spice Girls will begin their tour on June 1, in Manchester, one of the six other dates on the tour. Tickets for the tour will officially go on sale from this weekend, there has been no information on tour dates outside of the UK yet.

Prior to Victoria Beckham's official statement, fans were still holding out hope of seeing her on a reunion tour. Sometime earlier, in a UK TV interview, Mel B said the Beckham might be joining the tour at some point and added that "it'd be a shame if she didn't."

At a recent Halloween party, Mel B called out Posh Spice by dressing up as her and holding up a sign that read "No I am not going on tour".

The Spice Girls originally formed in 1994 and achieved instantaneous global success when their single 'Wannabe' hit number one in 37 countries. Selling over 31 million copies, their debut album 'Spice' becoming the best-selling album by a female group in history. They frequently associated themselves with the 'girl power' label and became one of the most influential pop culture icons of the 1990s.
