'Vanderpump Rules': Brittany and Jax 'overcompensate' by naming Lance Bass as their new pastor and get trolled

Viewers were left in splits when Brittany and Jax kept referring to '90s popstar Lance Bass as their pastor when he is technically the officiant of their wedding

The pre-wedding drama of Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor is turning out to be equally frustrating and entertaining at the same time.

Firstly, we saw Jax unleash his inner "groomzilla", then we had Brittany crying her eyes out because everyone on social media was poking fun of her for marrying Jax. Just as the dust was beginning to settle on their wedding drama, it was revealed that the pastor officiating their wedding turned out to be a grade-A homophobe.

Although the couple was aware of it, thanks to the several social media posts with them being tagged in the comments referencing to their beloved pastor's scathing statements, the couple chose to turn a blind eye to it.

However, their plan of getting officiated by their beloved homophobic pastor came to a screeching halt when their boss Lisa Vanderpump came across his social media posts filled with homophobic propaganda, called up Jax and Brittany and asked them to fire their pastor and get a new one.

The couple did fire their homophobic pastor, and in the words of the wise James Kennedy, the couple overcompensated for their lapse in judgment by getting '90s pop-star Lance Bass, a proud member of the LGBTQ community, to officiate their wedding.

Apart from the fact that he will now be officiating their wedding, what had fans chuckling with amusement was the couple constantly referring to him as their new pastor, just because he was officiating their wedding.

Fans pointed out that Lance Bass is the officiant of their wedding and not a pastor. A fan tweeted, "Lance Bass is not the pastor of your wedding, he is the officiant, Ding Dong!! #PumpRules."

Another fan wrote, "Lance Bass officiating a wedding does not make him a pastor #PumpRules," while a viewer joked, "'I have Lance Bass as my pastor.' And now we know that Jax doesn't know what a 'pastor' is #PumpRules."

"'Lance Bass is my pastor' can I join the church of *NSYNC too? #pumprules," commented another amused fan while one user shared, "'Lance Bass is my pastor' it's hard to hate someone so dumb #PumpRules."

Fans also agreed with James Kennedy's statement that the couple was "overcompensating" by getting Lance Bass to officiate their wedding.

A viewer wrote, "James is 1000% right — Jax and Brittney are overcompensating by picking Lance Bass and they waited way too long to take action. But whatever. Let's move on. #PumpRules."

One fan tweeted, "Lance bass was totally damage control. #PumpRules," while another commented, "And lance bass officiating now proves my point lmao damn they really went all out to try to save their image on the show #pumprules."
