'Van Helsing' Season 4 Episode 6 preview: 'Miles and Miles' follows Axel and Phil as they hunt for Max in a desperate bid for redemption
Spoiler alert for Season 4 Episode 6 of 'Van Helsing'
Phil (Vincent Gale), the former vampire, has a long way to go before he can redeem himself in the eyes of his wife Jennifer (Holly Elissa) for murdering their children back when he was a vampire.
Now, he's on the road to save Jennifer and her son Owen from Max (Richard Harmon), who has taken them hostage for reasons unknown. Phil's drive is intensified by the suspicion that Owen might be his own son.
Accompanying Phil is Axel (Jonathan Scarfe), who has his own things to make up for — the latest of which is the time it took before he was able to rescue Phil and Jolene from Max's clutches.
Max's reasons for taking Jennifer and Owen hostage is only one of the show's unanswered questions regarding Max. Last episode saw Max recover from being shot in the head and a subsequent explosion, healing from his injuries much in the same way Phil can.
Max isn't a kind of vampire — in fact, he's been shown to get off on the vampire repellant drug he was in charge of mining — but what he exactly is remains to be seen.
Max isn't the only person Axel and Phil are in danger from this episode. The promo sees them being attacked by a group of sword-wielding, heavily covered figures in broad daylight.
Syfy released a sneak peek for the episode, showing Axel trying to reassure Phil as they follow Max's trail, and discuss who takes him down. As the two share a relatively quiet moment on the road, the question of redemption for both of them is also brought up. The promo ends with the two finding Owen's teddy bear placed squarely in the middle of the road — most likely a taunt from Max himself.
Episode 6 of 'Van Helsing' Season 4 titled 'Miles and Miles' airs on Syfy on November 1.
