Utah teacher who photographed 9-year-old student in the nude and shared it online sentenced to 15 years
WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH: A Utah teacher who took nude photos of his third-grade student on several occasions and then shared it online with other pedophiles has been sentenced to 15 years behind bars by a federal court.
Kyle Mark Hill, 34, was a teacher at the Endeavor Hall Charter School in West Valley City when he began sexually abusing the nine-year-old boy in 2017, according to KUTV. Hill would reportedly ask the third-grader to get naked while he stayed behind during recess breaks and then take photographs of him. He is said to have done so on at least 10 occasions. He was also accused of touching the boy's penis.
The authorities said they are worried because they fear there could even more victims considering how the teacher held a position of trust.
The 34-year-old, who pleaded guilty to one charge of making child pornography this past Thursday, November 14, also faces sexual abuse charges at the state level and will serve his federal sentence consecutively with the sentence he gets from the state.
He will be serving his state sentence after the federal one, with court documents stating, "This sentence shall run consecutive to any sentence imposed by the Third Judicial District Court in and for Salt Lake County, State of Utah."
He is charged in Utah with aggravated sexual abuse of a child and is scheduled to go on trial for the same on January 21, 2020.
Per his federal sentence, after he is freed, he will be on supervised release for the rest of his life and have to register as a sex offender. The conditions for the supervised release include participation in mental health treatment, restriction of contact with anyone aged under 18 without adult supervision, and a ban from viewing, accessing, or possessing sexually explicit material in any format.
