Trump complains he 'can't wash hair properly' due to poor water pressure, now US mulls easing shower standards

Trump said, 'So what do you do? You just stand there longer or you take a shower longer? Because my hair – I don’t know about you, but it has to be perfect'

President Donald Trump had complained about hair-washing on Wednesday, August 12, which had prompted the US government to propose changing shower pressure standards. The Trump administration had proposed a rule change that would allow showerheads to boost the water pressure. This came after Trump complained that the bathroom fixtures do not necessarily work to his liking. The Department of Energy plans to follow comments from Trump just last month at a White House event on pulling back some regulations.

Trump had said, "You turn on the shower, if you're like me, you can't wash your beautiful hair properly." He had shared that he believed water does not come out fast enough from fixtures. He had said, "So what do you do? You just stand there longer or you take a shower longer? Because my hair – I don’t know about you, but it has to be perfect."

Around last December Trump had said that environmental regulators were looking at sinks, faucets and toilets in order to revise rules which were meant to conserve water and fuel that heats it. During a meeting with small business leaders at the White House, Trump shared, "People are flushing toilets 10 times, 15 times, as opposed to once."

Over the course of Trump's presidency, the administration had rolled back environmental regulations. The move by the administration comes amid the coronavirus pandemic and with western states in the US facing massive droughts. Consumer groups have called out the plan saying that current rules saved consumers money by conserving water and fuel, Reuters reported. The executive director of the Appliance Standards Awareness Project, Andrew deLaski, released a statement and said, "The existing showerhead standard has spurred manufacturers to make devices that are more satisfying while using less water." "That reduces our water bills, and it also reduces our energy use," deLaski reports.

Social media users have been left enraged at the news of Trump administration proposing the rule change. One such user shared, "Maybe if Trump used less hairspray, it would be easier to wash his hair. He should try @Neutrogena anti-residue shampoo. It works wonders on the soap residue on the glass walls and door of my shower."

Another Twitter user also shared, "Trump does not care about the environment, he does not care about ANYTHING, except himself. The sooner his 'base' realizes this the better it will be for them. Or they can just go along with him and find themselves without healthcare, clean air, clean water or democracy."

"This is a perfect example of how a narcissistic sociopath actually thinks: It's ALL about HIM. What HE needs, what HE wants, what HE likes or dislikes & everyone else in HIS little world has to adapt around HIM. That's it! No exceptions. He's dangerous," wrote another.

Another user who echoed the same sentiments also wrote in saying, "More important things to be concerned about. No national plan for testing, tracing and isolating. No strategy to deal with the coronavirus, no help for working and poor Americans. Failed leadership! A healthy economy requires healthy people."
