The new year didn't begin auspiciously for a New Zealand mother, who opened up her mailbox to find a very unkind and insensitive note from her neighbor complaining about her disabled son.

Twenty eight-year-old single mother Ana Gray from Napier discovered that the note contained a complaint from one of her neighbors about the noise her 7-year-old disabled son makes.

Ana's son Wiremu had been diagnosed with autism and Global Development Delay known as GDD around five years ago.

The note read, "If you don't stop that kid yelling I will ring child support and report you. We all getting sick of the yelling and also ring your landlord."

Ana spoke to New Zealand Herald and shared that she had absolutely no idea who left the unpleasant note and revealed that she is aware that her kid's yelling gets on people's nerves, as it gets on her nerves too. However, yelling is a means by which her child is coping with his autism and GDD, she said.

The note just added to all the pent-up frustration and stress given that the situation is already challenging and difficult, she said.

Gray shared, "I would have preferred being spoken to face to face so I can explain our situation. It is very hard for me doing this on my own." The mother of three added that Wiremu "has become more difficult to handle... There's nothing I can do about it right now."

Ana is hopeful that the situation will get better and things will improve as she said that Wiremu is currently on the list to see a pediatrician who may be able to help with his case.

Now that he is getting older and bigger, Ana shared that she is finding her son a lot more of a "challenge". She further added, "I understand why my neighbors would complain, he is very loud and has his random outbursts almost every day."

Due to Wiremu's condition and outbursts, Ana shared that the family tends to spend a lot of time at home as taking Wiremu out is very tricky and he tends to "yell all the time."

Currently, Ana tries to subdue and keep him calm by allowing him to play his favorite game on her phone -- Minecraft. "I love my son to pieces. He may not be perfect to others but he is perfect to me," she continued.
