UAE's gender equality awards all given to men, irony isn't lost on social media: "I think you forgot the ladies"
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) awarded prizes at the Gender Balance Index 2018 ceremony in Dubai on Sunday, and pictures from the annual "gender equality" awards circulating online showed that all the winners were men.
The irony was not lost on netizens, given the government's Gender Balance Index awards "initiatives and programmes undertaken by various government entities to promote equal opportunities for both men and women."

People latched onto the picture of the vice president of UAE, Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, with the all male award winners, to mock the kingdom for its weird way to "promote equal opportunities for both men and women."
