Paralyzed veteran and wife describe how their battle for a chance at IVF changed the way they saw the world
After raising money for themselves and going through exhaustive fertility treatment they were finally able to have their son in 2017.
Corporal Tyler Wilson was paralyzed from the waist down after he took a bullet to the spine while stationed in Afghanistan in 2005. At the time he was only 20 years old. The injury left him unable to have father of his own. Wilson and his wife looked into IVF treatment, but the Department of Veteran's Affairs refused to fund the treatment.
But not ones to be deterred they managed to raise the money themselves and were able to have their first son, Mathew, in 2017 (through IVF pregnancy). Now the couple helps raise permanent funds for injured veterans to help them start a family.
