'House Of Payne' Season 9 Episode 15 Review: Will CJ finally accept Jazmine's druggie boyfriend?
Of course, we knew that the entire episode would be focussed on Jazmine and the mysterious vape pen. Except...it turns out, it didn't belong to her. It belonged to her boyfriend Kaleb. In the latest episode of 'House Of Payne', we got to see him---a person we had about vaguely a couple of episodes ago, before Calvin (Lance Gross) and Miranda's (Keshia Knight Pulliam) drama took the center stage.
Jazmine brings home with much spring in her step, and after a few minutes of conversation with him, a smoldering CJ throws him out of the house, 'Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air style', as he's convinced the guy is into hard drugs. It is a matter of deep hypocrisy, because Malik (Doc Shaw) brought home his stripper girlfriend Lisa, whom he got pregnant by the way, and no one batted an eyelid really, except to exude some gasps here and there. Calls for double standards doesn't it? Jazmine has had to field questions on sex and virginity as well, just a while ago. Why?
Nevertheless, CJ and Janine decide to have the talk with Jazmine at the end of the episode and let her know they love her very much, you know, that old chestnut. Just before that, they tell Curtis (LaVan Davis) about it, who is rather steamed about the whole issue---what exactly he's steamed about, we're not quite sure. Was it the fact that Jazmine's boyfriend got thrown out, or the vaping? Well, it seems as if he finally had some character development this season, considering that he has just been there to irritate Ella or cast the wandering eye on Malik's girlfriend Lisa.
An interesting episode for sure, and 'House Of Payne' is determined to revert to its old pattern of delving deep into such issues as sex and drugs, but it's not quite there yet. It's still in the habit of picking up and dropping storyline threads -- because the question is, what is happening to Malik and Lisa? Why is there silence on the front? And, are we finally done with the Calvin and Miranda never-ending drama?
Also, will Ella ever get her birthday party? Tune into 'House Of Payne' on Wednesdays at 8 pm.
