33-year-old John Coughlin was found dead at his former residence in Kansas City on Friday, a day after he was suspended from the sport
American pair skater John Coughlin, a 2012 Four Continents silver medalist and 2011 and 2012 US national champion, was found dead at his residence from an apparent suicide. He was 33-years-old.
The death came just a day after US Centre for SafeSport, an anti-abuse organization, suspended him from the sport for an "unspecified conduct."
According to USA Today, officers responded to the home at 10900 block of Washington Street in Kansas City, Missouri, at around 4:54 pm on Friday over reports of a suicide. Public records showed the house was listed as Coughlin's former address and that his father lived there currently.
