The authorities at the Memphis Police Department were alerted only after the incident had already taken place. Police were told that a woman and her child had just left the Target after purchasing groceries when they were approached by the two men who were armed with a handgun.
Speaking about the incident, the police said, "The males forced the victim and the child into the suspect's vehicle. The suspects drove to the Regions Bank at 7790 Highway 64 and forced the victim to withdraw $800 from the ATM.”
The ATM was approximately half-a-mile west from where the abduction took place. Authorities said that they were immediately informed by the victim, just after she handed over the money to the abductors and was released by them. The police statement did not mention where the victims were released or how long the entire incident lasted before they were freed.
The police had said that the abductors had been there prior to their arrival at Target. They were able to find a video showing the two suspects at a Walmart about a mile east from where the abduction happened. The officials said, "The two male suspects are still currently on the run and are wanted on priority for kidnapping and aggravated assault."
A cash reward of up to $2,000 will be offered for any information leading to the identification and arrest of the two suspects. Police officials are requesting that anybody who witnessed the abduction or can give them sort of information on the tragic incident to contact Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
