Urban Outraged: PETA slammed over online shop selling products made of 'human' parts
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is taking an aim at trendy online shops such as 'Urban Outfitters' by launching its satirical store 'Urban Outraged'. The store is selling products made from "human parts". A press release stated the shop has a lot of clothing and accessories items "made of the finest leather- that on second look, reveal human faces on the jackets, human teeth on the shoes and human blood oozing from the bags." The campaign is reminiscent of Buffalo Bill's human suit called 'The Silence of the Lambs' launched in 1991.

The latest campaign was started to bring into limelight the famous retailers who continue to sell clothing and accessories made from animal leather and fur. One of the taglines of Urban Outraged described it as "Fashion that dares to ask the question 'Who are you wearing?'"
In an exclusive statement given by the executive vice president of PETA, Tracy Reiman, to The New York Post, she said, "A cow's skin belongs to her, and she feels fear and pain in a slaughterhouse every bit as much as you or I would."
Proverbial names of the people who were slaughtered and whose organs were used to fabricate goods are featured on Urban Outraged. Some of these also retain their corporeal form, for instance, a suitcase made from human nipples.
Reiman said, "PETA's Urban Outraged challenges shoppers to see the individual behind every bit of animal skin on store racks and shelves." Not all of these goods are for sale. Some goods are for mere illustration of how PETA imagines human leather goods. The site also promotes a fictional 'Afterlife Collection', which offers a morbid service of having the skin of a deceased loved one transformed into necro-wear.
People have been slamming and bashing PETA on Twitter for its recent actions. Twitter users are using harsh words for the organization. One such user said, "So PETA have made this human leather thing now. I just can’t today." Another user wrote, "PETA Launches ‘Human Leather’ Shop to Save Cows… While Killing Puppies and Kittens."

Trolling PETA for its unthoughtful actions, a user wrote, "If PETA actually thinks ppl are gonna be so upset at these, "human leather items", that it will make ppl rethink their product choices when it comes to products made from animals, & to stop buying them LMAO These thing's are gonna SELL OUT faster than the one's made from pets."

Angry at the campaign, one of the users wrote, "@PETA launching a Dark Web-style snuff market by selling human leather is a genuine crime against humanity that should require full accountability, scrutiny, and immediate legal action from US and World Governments, the feds, and human rights organisations!" Another user wrote, "So when peta makes human leather they're "promoting animal rights" but when i kill a woman and wear her skin, i'm a "serial killer"."
