Twitter has been slammed for not taking down a 'deceptively edited' video which made President Donald Trump look 'disoriented' before he walked towards Marine One on the White House lawn. A social media user Tom Joseph took to Twitter to share the video on Sunday, September 6, along with the caption, "Trump is lost [and] disoriented here. His mind goes blank and he doesn’t remember what he's supposed to do next. He's deep into his degenerative neurological disease — Frontotemporal dementia — mindlessly lumbering and zigzagging in the grass towards a puddle."

The video was later removed.

As per Fox News, the video had a 'manipulated media' tag which was added to it by Twitter on Monday, September 7, and had been allowed to remain there. Several journalists had pointed out that that the video which is said to be from August 2019 had lacked context.

In the video clip, Trump can be seen walking on the South Lawn at the White House where he was waiting to meet his wife Melania Trump. In the altered version of the clip, Trump is seen randomly pointing to the puddle whereas in the real clip, he is seen alerting Melania Trump so she doesn't step in the water. An ABC News reporter Will Steakin said that Trump 'was simply walking back to wait for FLOTUS here'. "This false tweet has over 23K retweets and the deceptively edited video has over 2 million views," Steakin added.

Social media users still found Trump's pointing to the puddle strange and took to commenting on the same. One such user wrote, "Okay, fine, it’s edited. But can someone explain to me why he waited for his wife behind the only puddle in sight? Like move over a few feet and you don’t have to point it out to her..."

Another Twitter user also commented, "It is not deceptively edited. He wandered off without a word and was obviously confused. If he was waiting for the consort, he would have walked over to her." Yet another user shared, "Maybe. But it's still weird. Why walk on the grass, when there's a paved driveway? The puddle makes me think the grass is probably wet, maybe muddy. That might explain the meandering route he took once he decided to walk on the grass — avoiding the worst mud — still, an odd choice."

"Where's the edit? It's literally shown straight through. And he does wander one way before wandering back to Melania... It may not be what he's saying is happening (dementia) but doesn't change the fact he clearly walked away aimlessly," another user added who echoed the same sentiments.

Another user said, "Waiting for FLOTUS still doesn't explain the weird meander, as opposed to, you know, just standing there waiting."

Back in August, Twitter flagged a video of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and activist Ady Barkan, saying it as doctored. Over the past few months, Twitter has flagged tweets from President Donald Trump. One of the most controversial incidents came when Twitter flagged Trump's tweet because it was 'glorifying violence'.  The tweet read, "These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen. Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!"
