Melania Trump and Justin Trudeau's 'Vogue ad' kiss at G7 summit has the Internet swooning
Melania Trump broke the internet while attending the G7 in Biarritz, France after her kiss greeting Justin Trudeau was caught on camera on Sunday night. The "intimate" moment went viral, with many commenting how similar it was to a 'Vogue ad' but a body language expert tempered the comparisons by saying "it's only the camera angle."
The moment took place while FLOTUS stood next to the Canadian Prime Minister during a group photo at the widely discussed event, Express reports. As the duo have met before, they greeted one another as friends rather than state ambassadors.
Trudueau appeared to chat with Melania while dressed smartly in a black suit, before he leaned in for a kiss on the cheek. That said, stills from the exchange caused some Twitter to read more into the situation than necessary.
“Looks like Melania (in the photograph) is infatuated with PM Trudeau and I can understand why," one wrote. “Everyone needs to find someone who looks at you the way Melania looks at Trudeau,” wrote another.
“I think my husband might divorce me if I looked at another man the way Melania is looking at Trudeau," a third person commented.
However, body language expert Judi James explained the photos to Express UK and reinforced that Melania and Donald are still loved up in their long marriage.
“With her husband's hilarious over-pucker as he leaned to cheek-kiss Angela Merkel, Melania showed the smooth way to approach the ritual with the very charming Trudeau, with the pair ending up looking like a Vogue ad while Trump stared grimly in the background,” she said.
“The trouble with air-kisses is that they do look dramatic when frozen for a photo," Judy said, adding that such platonic interactions are often confusing when caught on camera. “Melania was clearly just aiming for Trudeau's cheek for a pitch-perfect ritual and it's only the camera angle that makes it look like anything more romantic!”
The former supermodel tied the knot with her real estate mogul husband in 2005 after dating for several years. The pair have previously spoken of the harmony in their relationship. “We don’t have fights. We disagree, but that’s OK. That’s very good in the relationship," Melania told Fox News of Trump in 2016. "I’m with my own brain, he’s with his own brain...I tell him my way and he accepts that, and I tell him what I think and he’s the same. He thinks what he thinks.”
