President Donald Trump has implied on Thursday, October 8, that he may have been infected with coronavirus during a Gold Star Families event honoring fallen US soldiers, which had been held on September 27, a day after the Rose Garden ceremony.

The Rose Garden ceremony saw Amy Coney Barrett being officially nominated to the Supreme Court. The Rose Garden ceremony is believed to be ground zero for the throng of Covid-19 cases surrounding the White House. Trump has suggested that his infection could have come from families of survivors who had got too close.

While making an appearance on Fox Business, Trump shared, "They come within an inch of my face sometimes and they want to hug me, they want to kiss me, and they do, and frankly, I’m not telling them to back up, I’m not doing it. But it’s obviously dangerous."

The president had hosted the Gold Star event at the White House on September 27 to honor 20 deceased service members as well as dozens of families. Trump and his wife Melania had first tested positive for the virus on October 1.

Many social media users took to the comments section to call Trump out on suggesting that he had contracted the virus from the event. One such user had written, "This is your best tweet, finally something we can all agree on,they SHOULD invoke the 25th Amendment & SHOULD remove ur ass from office due to u being unfit to serve. Go one Donny, gold star."

Another user commented and shared, "He will not tell the American public when is last negative Covid-19 test was. Before he got the infection he used to tell how many times he was negative how many times he was tested! Now silence. LOWEST MOVE EVER, BLAMING COVID-19 ON GOLD STAR FAMILIES HUGS!" "And While Fidel here has his head up Trump’s ass, what’s coming out of Trump’s mouth is an all out attack on Gold Star Families, military, and police that he says infected him. Ted doesn’t give a damn about the Republic he served or the State he is only concerned with power," a third social media user commented and wrote.

Yet another user commented and said, "you, suggesting that no one should point fingers at him while he was pointing fingers at gold star families for his COVID diagnosis? Agree that we should all condemn this craziness. But, please don’t put others to purity test that trump fails miserably every time, without fail." "You’re blaming Gold Star families for your infection. You are the most disgusting , vile shit on the planet. I hope this virus wipes out you and your entire family. And I hope you DID get it from Gold Star families, Captain Bone Spurs. F**k off," wrote another user who echoed the same sentiments. Another said, "He exposed Gold Star families to COVID and is now claiming Gold Star families gave him COVID. Mr. President, @realDonaldTrump Sir, with all due respect: Go screw yourself."

Trump had earlier speculated that one of his top aide's Hope Hicks may have contracted the virus from having close contact with a member of the military or law enforcement.

The White House doctors who are treating Trump for coronavirus have not put forth any theory of where he could have contraced the virus. The administration has also not come forward with any contact-tracing efforts which could be used to identify the source of the outbreak of the killer virus at the White House. More than a dozen aides tested positive for the virus.
