Melania looking at new schools for Barron in Florida as Trump's private residence at Mar-a-Lago gets renovated

Although President Donald Trump might not have come around to conceding the 2020 election to President-elect Joe Biden yet but after all the key swing states which had been previously called for his Democratic opponent certified the results against him, the reality must be setting in somewhat for the POTUS. As a result, it was reported that his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida, where he was supposed to move in after he leaves the White House on January 20, is currently being renovated. Even Melania Trump has started looking for potential schools for son Barron, who currently attends St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Maryland.

Trump administration officials have so far stayed mum about what the president plans to do when he officially completes his four-year term. The president’s 2,000-square-foot private residence at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach “will be expanded and spruced up," a source close to Trump has told People Magazine. "They are definitely renovating his apartment within the Mar-a-Lago Club to make it larger, more modern, and comfortable for his use.” One source said: “Mar-a-Lago is iconic, a building he took great pride in renovating when he bought it. It makes sense that he wants to be there and will make the mansion his home.”

The FLOTUS is also said to be “checking out a good Florida school for Barron.” “They have looked all over Palm Beach County and neighboring Broward County for just the right place. There are several options, and they will decide soon," the insider reported. Barron, 14, like his parents, tested positive for coronavirus in recent months.

People magazine also reported that the first couple maintained separate bedrooms at Mar-a-Lago. The president planned to spend his post-presidency in Palm Beach, his Bedminster golf club in New Jersey, and at Trump Tower in New York City, those close to him and his family have said. In October last year, the Trumps officially changed their address from Fifth Avenue’s Trump Tower to the resort club in Florida. Although the president was born in Queens, New York, and made quite a name for himself in the 1980s as a real estate developer in Manhattan, the Big Apple came to reject him after he was elected into the Oval Office. As a result, he turned his focus to Florida – a state he won in his reelection race against Biden.

A member of the Palm Beach club said Trump “wouldn’t want to be in Palm Beach in the dead of summer, but he doesn’t have to be so it can work out well.” “He loves Palm Beach and his friends here. And his golf club is minutes away in West Palm Beach.” Another source at the beach club previously told the news outlet: “No matter what else is happening in the world, he is treated like royalty at Mar-a-Lago. He loves to be here.” There is also a possibility that Melania's parents who have been living in Washington, DC, will also be moving to Florida because their apartment is also under renovation.

When then-businessman Trump moved into the White House in January 2017, Melania and Barron stayed back at Trump Tower in New York City for months. At the time the first lady said it was a mutual decision taken so that Barron could finish school. However, later a new FLOTUS biography published by Washington Post author Mary Jordan revealed that the actual reason was Melania renegotiating her prenuptial agreement with Trump.
