As the coronavirus pandemic continues to wreak havoc and chips away at Donald Trump's approval rating, which hit a new low earlier this week, the president seemingly admitted he could very well lose the upcoming elections. Trump's comments came as he spoke on Fox News during a town hall in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Thursday, June 25, hosted by Sean Hannity about his plans to rebuild the military, create new jobs, the George Floyd riots, and of course, his thoughts about Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. Addressing the unrest in Seattle and Washington state in recent weeks, Trump said he was planning to stop the violence and that protesters were becoming unruly only in states that were being run by Democrats.

"By the way, in all cases, it’s Democrats; they’re Democrat run in all cases," he said, according to an official transcript of the town hall released by the White House. "And Joe Biden would have that be the whole country. It’s so crazy what’s happening." "Here’s a guy who doesn’t talk," he continued, bringing up his favorite criticism of the former vice president, who he regularly refers to as 'Sleepy' Joe Biden. "Nobody hears him. Whenever he does talk, he can’t put two sentences together. I don’t want to be nice or un-nice. Okay? But, I mean, the man can’t speak." Trump went on to say that he might lose the upcoming presidential election because the country did not approve of him even though he was just "doing my job" during the "China plague".

"And he’s going to be your President because some people don’t love me maybe," Trump said. "And, you know, all I’m doing is doing my job. Don’t forget: Before the China plague came in — and it’s the China plague — before that came in, we had the best job numbers we’ve ever had. We had the best economy we’ve ever had. We had the best stock market we’ve ever had."

His comments lashing out against Biden also came in the wake of the 77-year-old criticizing the president over his handling of the pandemic and comparing him a "child" who "can’t believe this has happened to him." "All his whining and self-pity. Well, this pandemic didn’t happen to him. It happened to all of us. And his job isn’t to whine about it, his job is to do something about it, to lead," Biden had said at a campaign event in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. "He admitted telling people, and I quote, 'We have to slow the testing down. Slow it down please,'" Biden continued. "He actually said it. At first, his spokespeople tried to say he was joking, but then Trump himself said he wasn’t joking. He called testing 'a double-edged sword'. He thinks that finding out more Americans are sick will make him look bad. That’s what he’s worried about. He’s worried about looking bad."

Trump's handling of Covid-19 and the George Floyd protests saw his disapproval ratings hit a new high this week, according to a new poll released by NPR, PBS Newshour, and Marist that put his approval at just 40 percent and disapproval at 58 percent. The poll also showed that 49 percent of voters "strongly disapprove" of the job Trump is currently doing.
