Will Trump take hydroxychloroquine after testing Covid-19 positive? Internet mocks him, says 'you can use bleach'
After President Donald Trump announced on Twitter on Friday, October 2, that he and First Lady Melania have tested positive for Covid-19, the Internet came up with mixed reactions. While some users trolled Trump for his earlier purported remarks when he alluded the pathogen as a "hoax", many suggested that the POTUS should use hydroxychloroquine.
Earlier Trump cited hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malaria drug, as a potential cure against Covid-19 though this has not been approved yet. We earlier reported that the POTUS admitted that his enthusiasm and faith in the unproven drug was based on “just a feeling”. During a briefing on March 19, Trump said two drugs — remdesivir and hydroxychloroquine — could be the game-changers. “It (hydroxychloroquine) is known as a malaria drug, and it’s been around for a long time and it’s very powerful. But the nice part is, it’s been around for a long time, so we know that if it — if things don’t go as planned, it’s not going to kill anybody,” Trump said on March 19.
Previous reports say that Trump was taking a malaria drug to prevent the virus attack, despite warnings from his own government that it should only be administered for Covid-19 in a hospital or research setting as the drug may cause fatal side effects. Associated Press reported that Trump had told reporters he has been taking hydroxychloroquine and a zinc supplement daily “for about a week and a half now.”
Now that Trump and Melania have contracted Covid-19, the Internet has started mocking the POTUS over his intake of hydroxychloroquine. A user wrote, "If you think the media is unhinged, wait until President Trump is saved by hydroxychloroquine." Another said, "Remember when Trump said he took Hydroxychloroquine as a preventative measure? So I guess that didn't work then?" A third quipped, "Trump with that hydroxychloroquine right now." "You can use bleach , hydroxychloroquine, wait for it to “magically” disappear or simply deny it exists," read another tweet.

A user joked, "38 seconds after trump injects bleach into his body and takes hydroxychloroquine." A user concurred on Trump taking that purported vaccine. "Trump drinking that hydroxychloroquine sh*t to get rid of COVID." Another wrote: "Hello. It's not a hoax. Summer didn't kill it. More masks, tests, truthfulness and <science> could've slowed it. Clorox and UV rays are bad for you. Hydroxychloroquine doesn't work. Dr. Atlas needs to be thrown into the Potomac. And 207,000 souls won't be voting this year."
