Trump's answer to Sean Hannity's question on agenda leaves Twitter in splits: 'Skip-skippety-bee-bop baboom'
The video and transcript of President Trump's answer to Fox News' Sean Hannity's softball question about his second term in office went viral on Twitter with social media users taking him apart over how gibberish and irrelevant his response sounded.
Trump appeared on 'Hannity' for an exclusive interview during a Town Hall on Thursday, June 25, covering various topics such as the coronavirus pandemic, former National Security Adviser John Bolton's tell-all book, and his reelection campaign. Of the many questions that the POTUS was asked, was the easy but important question about his "top priority items for a second term," ahead of the November election.
Instead of listing agendas that he wished to fulfill if re-elected, Trump started recalling the first time he was elected four years ago and ended by calling Bolton an "idiot."
"I always say talent is more important than experience, I always say that." He said. "I never did this before, I never slept over in Washington. I was in Washington, I think, 17 times. All of a sudden, I’m president of the United States. You know the story. I’m riding down Pennsylvania Avenue with our first lady, and I say, ‘This is great.’ But I didn’t know very many people in Washington. It wasn’t my thing. I was from Manhattan, from New York."
He added: "Now I know everybody. And I have great people in the administration. You make some mistakes. Like, you know, an idiot like [John] Bolton, all he wanted to do was drop bombs on everybody. You don’t have to drop bombs on everybody. You don’t have to kill people."
Instead of following up on the question, Hannity moved on to the next question, which has been one of Trump's favored topics of late — Whether Bolton should be prosecuted. The clip and the subsequent transcript of his answer were retweeted virally and many people criticized the POTUS for his incoherent reply and even suggested that he was not mentally fit to be re-elected.
