Trump says Fox News is not like the old days after 'negative ads', calls late ally Roger Ailes the 'GREATEST'

The president has slammed the network, which is known to be closest to him among all the mainstream media outlets, a number of times in the recent past

President Donald Trump doesn’t have too many friends in mainstream media and Fox is among the few he has. However, the poll-bound leader has expressed his dissatisfaction with even Fox in recent times and on Monday, October 12, he slammed the network again saying it launched a number of "negative ads" against him and recalled its former CEO Roger Ailes as "the greatest".

Ailes, a disgraced media mogul who died in 2017, was an adviser in Trump's campaign in 2016. He was found accused in sexual misconduct against several women and was ousted from Fox in 2016.

Trump, who tested positive for coronavirus earlier this month but claims to have being cured now, tweeted slamming Fox minutes before he addressed a campaign rally in Sanford, Florida. He said the network ran more negative ads against him than those by all other networks combined and rued saying: "Not like the old days."

In his tweet, Trump said: "@FoxNews allows more negative ads on me than practically all of the other networks combined. Not like the old days, but we will win even bigger than 2016. Roger Ailes was the GREATEST!"

Trump has slammed Fox and remembered Ailes even before

This is not the first time in recent months that Trump has lashed out at Fox and recalled Ailes. In June, he criticized Fox News for having Donna Brazile, a former chair of the Democratic National Committee, as a contributor. In a tweet expressing his disappointment, he asked: "Where are you Roger Ailes?"

Even before that, Trump hit out at Fox after its senior anchor Neil Cavuto criticized the former over his claim that he was taking hydroxychloroquine as preventive medicine against coronavirus.

Cavuto warned the president that it could kill you and the latter retaliated saying Fox has more anti-Trump people now. He also recalled Ailes in his attacking tweet that said: "@FoxNews is no longer the same. We miss the great Roger Ailes. You have more anti-Trump people, by far, than ever before. Looking for a new outlet!"

Fox has come up with news and views that find Trump less favorable ahead of the upcoming presidential election. While its poll showed last month that Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden was leading Trump in key states like Pennsylvania, Nevada and Ohio, Trump sympathizer Tucker Carlson said after the first presidential debate on September 29 that Trump will not win the election only by making personal attacks against the former vice president.

Trump, who has criticized Fox in the recent past over its survey showing Biden taking a lead and accused it of betraying its own viewers, was also critical of the moderator of the first debate Chris Wallace — a Fox anchor. He accused Wallace of being biased towards Biden in the run-up to the show and was found arguing with him during the debate.

Trump did not spare Fox also during a recent interview with Rush Limbaugh, one of his allies, where he said the channel was "much different" than what it was four years ago. He also recalled Ailes during that talk saying: "You watch this Fox, and it is a whole different ballgame and you know [Sen] Paul Ryan is on the board of Fox. So I am sure that has something to do with it. When Roger Ailes ran Fox, I mean Roger had a very strong point of view that is totally gone, and I think it is influenced by Paul Ryan."

Trump's doctors have given him a clean chit over his coronavirus diagnosis saying he tested negative for "consecutive days".
