President Donald Trump, on Thursday, August 13, called Senator Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic vice-presidential nominee, a radical "mad woman." The Republican also said that the tax-and-spend policies of the Democratic ticket would wreak havoc on the economy, adding that the party's environmental agenda would lead to the Empire State Building's demolition. "She’s radical left. Now she tries to pretend she’s not, but she’s the most liberal person in the US Senate," Trump, during an appearance on 'Fox News Business', said. "She’s done things that are terrible in terms of the police, in terms of the Second Amendment, in terms of everything else and she is a big taxer as Joe is a big taxer," he added referring to his political rival Joe Biden.

Trump continued, saying that the California senator is "sort of a mad woman," and slammed her for her famous questioning of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh during his Senate confirmation hearing. “She was so angry and [showed] so much hatred with Justice Kavanaugh,” the Republican said. "I mean, I’ve never seen anything like it. She was the angriest of the group — and they were all angry. They’re all radical left angry people,” he added.

When he was asked on the network about the economic forecast for the next year and whether the US would bounce back from financial recessions resulting from the coronavirus pandemic, the president said that it would depend on who wins the 2020 election later this year. “I think if he wins, you’re going to end up with a disaster,” Trump said of Biden. He added that the former vice president would push for the Green New Deal backed by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

"It’s so ridiculous, but they’re talking about no fossil fuels, which means basically no energy, and have to close down half of the businesses of the country. If you have to rebuild cities because too much light gets through the windows, so let’s make the windows nice and small, let’s rip down the Empire State Building and replace it with no windows,” Trump said of the Green New Deal. “I mean the whole thing is so preposterous. It is so crazy. And I guess you’re talking about $100 trillion, right, to do it, assuming you did it, you know, which will never happen, by the way,” he added.

The president's statement comes two days after he said he was surprised that Biden had picked Harris as his running mate. The Republican had expressed his surprise citing that the California senator had called the former vice president "essentially racist" during their primary debates. Trump, however, had also revealed that Harris would have been his personal "number one pick" if he were given a choice over who he and Vice President Mike Pence would have wished to face off in the 2020 election.

The president, while appearing on Fox News, had said: "She was one of the people that was projected to have a chance at winning. All she did as people got to know her, she went down. She finished at 2%, probably less than that and she fled. Remember how quickly. She said horrible things about Biden... She made terrible statements. She essentially called him a racist. And other things that were very bad."
