After a video of New York health workers burying the bodies of those who died of the coronavirus outbreak in the state in Hart Island in a mass grave went viral on Twitter, outraged social media users started branding it the 'Trump Burial Pits,' accusing the president of poorly handling the spread of the pandemic.

The clip shared by the channel Now This, was captioned: "This drone footage captures NYC workers burying bodies in a mass grave on Hart Island, just off the coast of the Bronx. For over a century, the island has served as a potter’s field for deceased with no known next of kin or families unable to pay for funerals."

The clip was retweeted by New York Times best-selling author, Rick Wilson, with the phrase 'The Trump Burial Pits' which soon caught on as an increasing number of people started tweeting with '#TrumpBurialPits' making it on number two on Twitter.

"Had *45 not spent so much time golfing, holding hate rallies, and claiming the virus was a hoax, the #TrumpBurialPits would not have happened," one user tweeted, while another wrote, "Put the #TrumpBurialPits on the Trump golf course, not on Hart Island."

"Making American Graves Again" a third said.

Another user wrote: "Here are #trumpburialpits & this f**ker wants to reopen business as usual in the US. Under capitalism, the common ppl are just chattel for the rich. Workers pump money into the economy for the Oligarchs. As long as enough ppl survive to work they DON'T care how many of us die."

The user's comment alluded to a press briefing held last month where the POTUS said, “We can’t have the cure be worse than the problem. We have to open our country because that causes problems that, in my opinion, could be far bigger problems," adding that he was keen on ending social distancing in the US.

A fifth social media user retweeted a Trump's tweet of self-boasting, captioning it, "People from NY are being buried in mass graves and this psychopath is talking about ratings. #TrumpBurialPits."

The tweet was sent by Trump last month. "Trump's tweet that the user wasThe Wall Street Journal always 'forgets' to mention that the ratings for the White House Press Briefings are 'through the roof' (Monday Night Football, Bachelor Finale, according to @nytimes) & is only way for me to escape the Fake News & get my views across. WSJ is Fake News!" it said.

The chairman of New York City Council’s Health Committee, Mark Levine, said earlier this week that they will reportedly begin to temporarily bury its coronavirus victims in public parks in trenches dug for 10 caskets if the death toll from the deadly virus in the region continues rising.

"Soon we'll start 'temporary internment'. This likely will be done by using a NYC park for burials (yes you read that right)," Levine wrote on Twitter. "Trenches will be dug for 10 caskets in a line. It will be done in a dignified, orderly--and temporary--manner. But it will be tough for NYers to take. The goal is to avoid scenes like those in Italy, where the military was forced to collect bodies from churches and even off the streets. OCME is going to need much more staff to achieve that goal."

New York's death toll has already crossed over 5,000 and a spike in the number of deceased is expected this week.
