John Legend calls Trump a 'racist piece of sh**' after president says Baltimore is a 'rodent-infested mess'
John Legend made it clear he's not a fan of President Trump as he was leaving the Peppermint Club in West Hollywood Tuesday night.
"Our president is a flaming racist. He's a piece of sh**," he told TMZ.
Legend's comments came after Trump called the city of Baltimore "disgusting, rat and rodent-infested mess," Daily Mail reports.
"He says sh** all the time," he continued, later calling the commander-in-chief "an evil f***ing canker sore on America's whole landscape."
"We need to get him out of office," he added.
The singer-songwriter was asked what can be done to address the Maryland metropolis' problems.
"There is a lot than can be done. It's got over a century of history that created the problems that they have," he responded, adding that the public "need[s] to focus on making all of our communities better instead of talking sh** about our communities just because you're a racist piece of sh**."
Legend is undoubtedly one of Hollywood's harshest critics of the president.
His remarks came after Trump attacked Congressman Elijah Cummings, who represents Maryland's 7th congressional district, which constitutes the majority of western Baltimore.
Trump previously called the congressman a "bully" for his criticism of the situation at the southern border.
"Rep, Elijah Cummings has been a brutal bully, shouting and screaming at the great men & women of Border Patrol about conditions at the Southern Border, when actually his Baltimore district is FAR WORSE and more dangerous. His district is considered the Worst in the USA," he tweeted.
The president continued his assault on Cummings, accusing him of ignoring the needs of his constituents.
"...As proven last week during a Congressional tour, the Border is clean, efficient & well run, just very crowded. Cumming District is a disgusting, rat and rodent-infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place," he added.
The left has since branded his comments racist as the area in question is majority African American.
Despite facing major backlash, Trump only doubled down on his criticisms of both Cummings and Baltimore, likening the city's problems to that of Honduras' on Tuesday.
"If you look at it statistically, it's like, the number of shootings, the number of crimes, the number of everything..." he told The Washington Post. "This morning I heard a statistic, Baltimore is worse than Honduras, okay?"
