LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The craze for vampires and other mythical creatures never die. Before phenomenal franchises like 'Twilight' movies and 'The Vampire Diaries' series took over the world, there was HBO original series 'True Blood' that surprised the audience with an engaging series about the Vampire world. However, in a recent interview, Casey Bloys, CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content, confirmed that the reboot for 'True Blood' is officially dead.

'True Blood' is based on a series of novels titled 'The Southern Vampire Mysteries' by Charlaine Harris. The series ran for seven seasons from 2008 to 2014, with a total of 80 episodes. 'True Blood' received praise from both the audiences and critics from the get-go, and received several nominations and wins including an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe.

No reboot for 'True Blood'

During a recent conversation with Variety, HBO and HBO Max content CEO Casey Bloys broke the news that the 'True Blood' reboot is no longer moving forward, stating that the fan-favorite show's return was considered but not taken up.

Bloys confirmed that a few scripts were in development at HBO, "but nothing that felt like it got there." But this does not come as a surprise to fans of 'True Blood' as during an interview with TVLine in February 2021, Bloys had said there were no immediate plans for another iteration of 'True Blood'.

He had confirmed that there were writers working on the idea for the next chapter of the story and added there were no immediate plans to release the reboot. But Bloys also added that if there was any story that adds to the original, possibilities exist. "We’ll have to see how it comes together,” Bloys added at the time. “Like with any development, you want to see [if] it [is] a story worth telling. Is it engaging? Does it add to the original? And we’ll see."
