'True Beauty' K-drama Episode 7: Seo-jun is in denial about liking Ju-kyung, but doesn't want her to date Su-ho
'True Beauty' episode 7 sees Ju-kyung find herself the object of affection of a popular junior league baseball player Ryu Hyung-jin. This comes as a shock to both Su-ho and Seojun, but more so for Seojun, who is in denial about how he has fallen for Ju-kyung. The episode also features one of the most hyped scenes in the comics - Ju-kyung applying makeup on Seojun while the two are out to buy makeup as a gift for Seojun's sister. In the comics, it is revealed that this was the moment that Seo-jun realized how much he really liked Ju-kyung. However, in the comics, he doesn't hit on her after having realized that his frenemy Su-ho also likes her. He stays away from her when he realizes that Ju-kyung also reciprocates his feelings. Now, coming to 'True Beauty' the Kdrama, we see Seo-jun for the better part of episode 7 deny his feelings for her repeatedly. He watches her get hit on by this famous baseball player and tries to ruin her chances with the man by telling him about the rumor of them being involved and having been together.
He also tries to stop her from spending any more time with Su-ho, and the scene of both Su-ho and Seo-jun fighting over her like she was a ragdoll, each holding onto one of her hands, ends up becoming one of the most comical encounters.
Su-ho pulls her out of the elevator, while Seo-jun tries to pull her inside and during this struggle, the elevator gets stuck. While Su-ho and Seo-jun glare at each other, all that Ju-kyung can think about is wanting to pee. She is desperate. In fact, the moment the elevator doors open, she jumps through and rushes to the washroom. This is after Su-ho gives her the coffee mug to pee in, in case of emergency. The straight face that Eun-woo pulls off in this scene adds to the comedy and we cannot help but laugh at his oblivious outlook. Su-ho is also in love with Ju-kyung, and he has a much deeper connection with her after having seen her without makeup and in her most vulnerable moment. However, for some reason, he continues to hesitate and doesn't share his feelings for Ju-kyung. This has in fact caused further misunderstanding between him and Ju-kyung as she now believes that the girl that he likes is none other than her friend Soo-jin.
This is after she sees Soo-jin being comforted by Su-ho after she gets hit by her father for scoring less than him. In all of this confusion, for a moment, we think that maybe she would date the baseball player. It definitely seemed as if she had been interested. However, she ends up confessing to her admirer that she cannot reciprocate his feelings because she has someone that she likes. Not knowing that Ju-kyung had turned the baseball player down, both Su-ho and Seo-jun, who are not confident in expressing their feelings, end up at one of his match hoping to stop Ju-kyung if she planned on going out with the guy. Instead, what happens is Seo-jun telling Su-ho that he does like Ju-kyung. The episode ends as the two of them face off after each having confessed his feelings for Ju-kyung. So who will Ju-kyung choose?
'True Beauty' episodes will air on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10.30 pm on tvN in Seoul, and can be streamed on Viki in the US.
