'True Beauty' Episode 13: Ju-kyung stands up for herself and Su-ho, refuses to give in to bullies
'True Beauty' Episode 13 begins with Ju-kyung's classmates and everyone in her new school Saebom finding out the truth about how she had used makeup to hide her freckles and other 'flaws'. Having always been told that she was ugly, it is with makeup that she had begun to feel a bit confident about herself, but now that that has been taken away from her, it is difficult for her to build her courage back up. In fact, she runs away from Su-ho as well. It takes time for her to accept the new reality and her mother coming down regarding how she wants to pursue a career in makeup is not something that helps.
Despite all of this, she thinks hard and over days of pondering comes to the conclusion that she shouldn't give in to bullies, and her former best friend Soo-jin. She had also figured out that the only one who could have outed her was none other than Soo-jin who knew the truth about Ju-kyung dating Su-ho but also about her using makeup as well. That's also the reason why she ends up visiting Soo-jin who quite rudely tells her to run away as she usually does so that she can leave Su-ho's side as well.
At this point, her mother gets called in to meet her class teacher who tells her the truth about how she was bullied in her old school. Her mother's heart is broken and this of course also shows her how her daughter had suffered all this while without speaking about it to anyone in her family. This also brings her family members closer to her, because everyone now realizes the reason why she was sensitive about her looks, the reason why she had got strangely attached to makeup recently as well. With such positivity around, Ju-kyung is also able to face Su-ho and his love for her also tides her over and helps her make a decision about what she must do about school.
Yes, her mother did offer to let her transfer out to a school, but that doesn't mean that she must run away from all of this either. So instead, she decides to go to school without putting her make up on and this ends up shocking her classmates. Most of them, however, are proud of her for showing up, but that doesn't remove the girls who had wanted to attack Ju-kyung either. This time, however, she doesn't run away, but instead stands up to them and proudly announces that she is dating Su-ho. He also hugs her in front of everyone and shows how proud he is of his girlfriend. However, can things remain this happy for Ju-kyung?
You see, Seo-jun has also made it his life's motto to ensure that he will not let anyone bully Ju-kyung. So he also faces Soo-jin and blackmails her about how she should delete her post if she doesn't want Su-ho to know the truth. She doesn't concede, so instead, she only faces Su-ho's wrath.
