SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Thomas Jane and Nicole Chamoun have returned in their roles of Ted Conkaffey and Amanda Pharrell in 'Troppo' Season 2 to solve a new crime.
The latest season of the noir crime drama series begins with the brutal murder of Family Tree retreat owner Julian Naughton. He is beaten up, set on fire, and thrown off the cliff, which also leads to the death of an unrelated young woman.
Zindzi Okenyo is introduced as Pip Sweeney, the new detective in town, leading the double homicide case.
Ralph Naughton is the primary suspect in his father's murder case in 'Troppo' Season 2
The initial investigation brings the suspicion on Ralph Naughton, son of the dead man. Ralph had prior records as a teenager, which makes Pip believe that he is capable of committing the brutal murder.
He also wasn't on good terms with his father and they shared a heated argument the night he was killed.
The discovery of evidence further builds Pip's suspicion. As reported by the retreat's manager, Ralph tried to burn down the shirt that he wore on the night of the crime. It contained Ralph's blood stains, which he justified saying were a result of nose bleeding.
Why Julian Naughton's neighbor might be a suspect in 'Troppo' Season 2
Believing that Ralph is innocent, Amanda carries out the investigation in Episode 2 and discovers what happened in the past.
Julian's neighbor Max lost his young kid Bart a few years ago and Ralph was accused of the unfortunate event. Julian pulled all the strings and saved his son from the arrest.
Since then, Max is unable to process the grief and carries a vendetta against Julian and his son. He picked up his rifle and fired some shots when Amanda stepped onto his property, highlighting that he doesn't mind violence.
However, there has been no evidence that frames Max in Julian's murder. He is just a grieving old man who never got justice and at this point, it seems unlikely that he committed the murder.
It's too early to narrow down a strong suspect and we'll have to wait for a few more episodes before the mystery begins to unfold.
