'Trolls: The Beat Goes On!' Season 7: Release, plot, cast, trailer and everything you need to know about DreamWorks' animated series on Netflix

Get ready for more glitter fights and tickle matches as the seventh season is back with Queen Poppy and Branch

Get ready for more glitter fights and tickle matches as the seventh season of 'Trolls: The Beat Goes On!' will be back with season 7 and could potentially be the final run. The animated television series produced by DreamWorks Animation is based on the 3D computer-animated romantic comedy musical film 'Trolls'.

When the series first began, it did pick up where the first movie left off.  Ahead of the series premiere in 2018, Skylar Astin, who voices Branch for the series, said the idea was for the show to dig deeper into who the Trolls characters are rather than continue the tropes of the movie.

Here's what we know so far about season 7.

Release

'Trolls: The Beat Goes On!' will release August 27th, 2019 on Netflix

Plot

The show picks up from where the film left off and follows Queen Poppy, Branch, her boyfriend, and the Snack Pack as they go about their lives in the troll village. They try and get used to living with King Gristle and Bridget and well the grumpy and grouchy Bergens. While they often differ in culture, it still fills the plot with music and dance parties. Each season has introduced new adventures that await Poppy and Branch, and their beloved trolls. The previous seasons have seen them emerge out of various challenges and revolve around the themes of friendship. This season too could revolve around a similar theme. A bit of forgiveness for the Bergens maybe?

Cast

Amanda Leighton

Leighton voices Poppy in the series.

The voice actors have not changed much in the previous seasons and we'll see Amanda Leighton return to voice Queen Poppy. Skylar Astin, Ron Funches, Kari Wahlgren, David Fynn, and Sam Lerner voice the characters Branch,  Cooper, Bella Brightly, Biggie, and King Lerner, respectively. The small-screen version of 'Trolls' has the same voice artists from the series.

Writer/Director

Matthew Beans who developed the first six seasons will be back to helm the project.

Trailer

The trailer comprises all the elements that made the series a kids delight. Glitter, troll customs, and some foot-tapping music. While there isn't much idea on what the story could be, it shows Branch opening up to Poppy. The clip begins with one of Branch's recorded song, and to think he actually hated music, fun, and glitter. There are fun ways that the trolls settle disputes and it also involves more glitter flights and tickle matches.

News

In an interview with Kidzworld, Astin, talking about the upcoming season said, "There are so many new stories to tell and since we don’t want to be redundant, we’re not going to keep telling stories where Poppy is being encouraged and Branch is being discouraging," Astin said at the time. "We get to actually have a little bit of role reversal sometimes, where Branch will be a little more optimistic and driving the story more and have his own reasons to go on his own journey and have to coax Poppy and vice versa."
