Spoilers for ‘Trackers’ Episode 1 on Cinemax

Can you trust someone you barely met a few seconds ago? Lemmer (James Gracie Alexander) faces that dilemma after Flea van Jaarsveld (Trix Vivier) pulls the black rhinos into the cargo and they drive past meadows along with their driver Lourens Le Riche (Gerald Steyn) on the highway. The last episode of 'Trackers' unmasked the black rhinos before ending on a riveting cliffhanger and the new episode dives right into the action from the first scene.

As Lemmer, Lourens and Flea drive on with their cargo, Lemmer notices a car on their tail. Who is following them? As they get to Limpopo, Lemmer wonders if they are after the horns, but soon finds out that they are after diamonds. There is a direct attack on them and Inkunzi Shabangu (Sisanda Henna) orders his men to search the truck. In the next pulsating set of scenes, they put a gun on Flea's head but are unable to find the diamonds they're looking for.

In the ambush, Lourens is killed, and while Flea and Lemmer escape, one question that remains in our minds is: Where are the diamonds? Meanwhile, things move smoothly along at the Presidential Bureau of Intelligence where Milla Strachan (Rolanda Marais) gets wind of what she actually needs to do and tracks the call involved with Inkunzi for the diamonds. While on her job, she gets several calls from her son Barend and when she goes to meet him, her husband sneaks into the cafe and blames her for leaving them for a journalist's job.

Lemmer goes back to Diederik Brand (Deon Lotz) and asks him the name of the man who is behind it all. While he hesitates, he later reveals that it was John Ehrlichman who set it up. Flea and Lemmer get talking and there is a moment between them where they get intimate. But, there's something suspicious about Flea. Clearly, it seems like that isn't her real name. Who is she and what is her motive? For now, all we know is that the diamonds are meant to be a settlement from the local terrorist cell to Allajna for an attack targeting a friendly soccer match between the United States and South Africa.

With a fast plot, brilliant performances and heart-pounding scenes, the episode chortles off and head of the PBI Janina (Sandi Schultz) and Quinn (Thapelo Mokeona) find a link to Diedrick and the man named John Ehrlichman with Milla's help. In the end, we find out that it was Flea who hoodwinked everyone around her before vanishing out of sight with a stash of diamonds and Lemmer's gun. Will her actions lead to more deaths? What is her real intention?

The mysterious death of Lourens has major implications and cleverly connects all the storylines. In the end, a newly arrived CIA operative, Lucas Becker (Ed Stoppard) is hijacked and runs after the thief into Bo-Kaap. What will happen next as 'Trackers' returns for another suspenseful episode next Friday at 9 pm ET on Cinemax?
