'Tough As Nails': Meet the everyday American heroes coming together to take part in the reality competition
'Tough As Nails', hosted by Phil Keoghan, is set to give a chance to some everyday American heroes who do not hesitate to get their hands dirty for the country. These people will be coming together on the show and facing challenges that test their strength, endurance, life skills, and, most importantly, mental toughness. Here's a look at everyone who will be coming on the show.
Young An
Young An is a firefighter whose typical day involves drinking three cups of coffee, working out and cleaning toilets. He added that he goes grocery shopping and sleeps until someone calls 911. An pointed out that he is coming to the competition for his family who sacrificed a lot to come to the US to make sure he gets a good life. An stated that he wants to win to pay off his parent's debts for the house. He further added that he would've to send his father to Korea for vacation so he can meet his family.
Melissa Burns
Melissa Burns is a farmer and describes herself as "bubbly, hardworking, and excited". Her day begins at 3 or 4 am and she makes sure that all the tasks for the day are completed on time despite any obstacles that might come in the way. Burns is competing for everyone involved in the agriculture industry, family and her future. Burns stated that she wants to win to show the world who is the toughest out there and prove it to the world that the farmers have got it all to win the competition.
Callie Cattell
Callie Cattell is a fisherwoman and describes herself as "hilarious, determined and crazy". Her normal day consists of picking fish and Cattell pointed out that it is a job that lasts "24 hours a day for two and a half months with no toilet, no shower and crappy food." Cattell revealed she is playing for her dad who has been her biggest motivation and inspiration. She wants to win the show to have her own fishing boat and become a captain like her father.
Tara Davis
Tara Davis is an ironworker who describes herself as 'motherly, hardworking and determined." Her day starts at around 3-3:30 am. She commutes 8-12 hours a day and then comes back home to spend time with her children. Davis is competing for her locals, her brother, sister and family. She wants to win the competition to give back to the locals who have always helped her family. At the same time, Davis wants to win the competition for her family and to show her children that they can do anything if they set their mind to.
Linda Goodridge
Linda Goodridge is a deputy sheriff and describes herself as "integrity, loyal and adventurous". Her day starts at 4 am and Goodridge makes sure that she gets her workout done. After coming back from work, she likes to spend time with her boyfriend, friend and family.
Goodridge revealed she is competing for her family, boyfriend and herself while adding that she is also competing for "every voice out there that struggles to be heard amidst the struggles and trials they face as they try to work hard and make a living." She said she wanted to win to"let the world know that honesty, integrity, hard work, faith, morals, and being true to you will win against any struggle."
Linnett Key
Linnett Key is a welder and she describes herself as "passionate, resilient and motivated." Key's day starts at 4 am and ends around 11 pm. She does two jobs and makes sure that she is there for her family whenever they need her. Key revealed that she is competing in this competition for her family, children and herself. She added that she wanted to win the competition in a bid to improve the financial condition of her family. She hopes to be an inspiration for others to let them know that one can do anything.
Michelle S Kiddy
Michelle S Kiddy is a gate agent and describes herself as "gutsy, energetic and high-spirited." Her day begins at 4 am and she helps check-in passengers, tag bags and collect fees and once the check-in is done, she heads to the gate to check the plane and helps out before coming back to start the check-in. Kiddy revealed she is coming to the competition for all the older people to show that age is just a number and anything is possible. "I want to win because I want to prove that real people, hard-working people like me who are older, educated and experienced are like gold," she said.
Lee Marshall
Lee Marshall is a roofer and he works from sun up to sundown. He revealed he is in the competition for his family, friends and co-workers. He said he wants to win for them and St Louis.
Danny Moody
Danny Moody is a drywaller who describes himself as 'competitive, confident and outgoing.' Moody revealed he is coming to the competition for his wife, children and himself. He added that he wants to represent the drywall world as well. He said he wants to win for the title and the money seems to be an added advantage.
Kelly "Murph" Murphy
Kelly "Murph" Murphy is a Marine corps veteran who describes himself as "quiet, determined and dedicated." Murphy revealed he is competition for himself as he wants to prove it to himself that he can still get the job done as he did on active duty.
Myles V Polk
Myles V. Polk is a technician who describes himself as "humorous, adventurous and creative." Polk revealed he is competing for his family, friends and future generations to make sure they have ample opportunities at their doorstep to achieve their dreams. Polk revealed he wants to win the competition to free his family off debts, leave something for the future generation while also making sure he can buy a nice ring for his girlfriend and give her the wedding she deserves.
Luis Yuli
Luis Yuli is a scaffolder who describes himself as "determined, strong-minded, and motivated." Yuli revealed he is competing for himself and mainly his mother and his two beautiful children. He revealed that his son sees him as a superhero and he wants to prove it to him that anything is possible. Yuli's biggest motivation to win this competition happens to be to prove to his children that one can attain anything they want. He wants the younger generation to know that anything is possible regardless of the upbringing while making his mother proud and letting her know that her sacrifices did not go in vain.
'Tough As Nails' airs on Wednesdays at 9 pm ET on CBS.
